• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

    Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

    I bought a 5er of robusto a while ago and didn't care for the first few too much. But this one for whatever reason hit the right notes. Someone else mentioned to me today that they really liked the corona in particular FWIW.

With how many of them Ive smoked though I'll say I wouldn't have thrown away one of last years best LEs on some slightly off nuance it was pretty strong...

    Next time you brew an IPA try going with around 8oz in late kettle additions and a 4oz dry hop. I know it's a lot more hops but you'll really crank up the hop character another level or two. I actually like a 4oz dry hop on my APAs too I just back off on the kettle additions.

    With that amount of hops that's sort of still in the APA range. The bittering addition might make the IBUs In the IPA range but with 3oz of late kettle additions it'll probably drink/smell more like an APA. If you want punch you in the face hop character you gotta get a little wild with the hops...

    whats the batch size on this? I like hop stands a lot too for flameout additions. Usually I do something like 15min, 10min, and 5min additions then a 20-30 min hop stand in the 160s.     Yea it's when all the hop additions are in the last 15-20 mins of the boil. You use more hops to compensate for skipping the bittering addition but you end up with a smooth bitterness and huge hop flavor/aroma. 6oz in the boil for APAs and at least 8oz for IPAs have been good numbers for me.

    Drinking my stout now and holy mounds bar!!! 12oz unsweetened flaked coconut + 2oz cocoa nibs did an amazing job, perfect balance. Almost tastes like a Last Snow clone except it's lighter on the coffee and heavier on the cocoa.

    have you tried the Reinado GER? Their LE release of the petite lance was really good and probably a profile in your wheelhouse. Not sure if they're still floating around though. The DE/SmokeInn Pope of Greenwich Village is another great one that reminds of fresh LP 9s from a few years ago.
