• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Homebrewers - Who is up for a BOTL brew?

Thanks for bumping this I just cast my vote. RIS all the way!! Not only do they pair well but they age well. Another good style I think would be an Irish red. Im getting ready to brew one so I can lager it for March. Nice malty toffee/caramel forward style.

    Home Rolling Cigars

Leafonly has some good stuff, particularly 1/4 sample packs, but I prefer the kits at wholeleaftobacco.com The Terroso Profundo(sp) kit is solid. The criollo and Corojo are great together and the blend goes very well with a handful of wrappers, I've tried about 4 or 5 myself. Other than that...

    Fox article on Gurkha

That's honestly my favorite bit of the whole article. This is like a write up likening Mad Dog 20 20 to fine wine or Steel Reserve to craft beer. What's most disappointing to me is they could have actually wrote a quality piece. Lots of names in the industry that would have made for a great...

    Cigars and Health Insurance

I just had to have blood taken and go through all of this for insurance and this bit of info is pretty key. Nicotine clears the system rather quickly but its byproduct can take up to a couple weeks before its levels aren't noticeable on a test. Quit smoking for 2 weeks, drink a gallon of water a...

    Fox article on Gurkha

Comical BS as usual. I'm not on Twitter or FB but it would be nice to see some people let Fox know they were fed a bunch of nonsense. Gurkha Cigars: A Cut Above the Rest - Fox News http://www.foxbusiness.com/industries/2015/11/02/gurkha-cigars-cut-above-rest/

    Homebrewers - Whats Fermenting?

That Trappist yeast is the same stuff we use for our tripel you can get some really nice esters from that strain. We had a batch that came out smelling like fruity pebbles we've been trying to replicate. Same for the Weihenstephan strain, great yeast.

    Homebrewers - Whats Fermenting?

Believe it or not that's basically what a lot of breweries do when brewing the same beer on back to back days. Pretty damn cool the way you tweaked it to good use on a RIS that's some crazy attenuation!! What yeast did you use for the quad? I see you like to use cakes too which is awesome did...

    Homebrewers - Whats Fermenting?

I typically don't go over 8% often anymore so others with more big beer experience may have better info. But I'm wondering if maybe a small shot of O2 with your sugar additions may help you reach the ABV and keep things clean. I know for a fact this method is used for really big brews like...

    Homebrewers - Whats Fermenting?

Where did you get the idea to add candi sugar during fermentation like that? I don't really brew a lot of Belgians so I don't know if thats routine but it seems a bit different as we normally add ours to the boil. On the other hand it does give the yeast time to go at the more complex sugars and...
