• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Sampling The New WLT Cibao Valley SKUs

Bunched as normal, entubado. Draw was good. Guess maybe this bag is a bit damp from the vendor. Didn't seem wet mind you, but maybe I should just let the leaf sit out a bit.

So this stick is 1 CV Criollo Ligero, .5 CVVA Seco, .5 Nic binder leaf. Straight from the bags, to the table, wrapped in newspaper for an hour maybe, then out to smoke. So far, all the other sticks I've tried ROTT for the last year or so have stayed lit from the first try to the end. This...

Between @Marc L 's links and the posts about adding other tobaccos to our RYO cigars, I'm toying with the idea of sprinkling in some pipe tobacco blends...

What do you do and what else do you do?

What kind of alarms? Like, ding! Fries are done! Or like DefCon 1, scramble the jets kind of alarms?

Ok gents, I finally made time to order some CV Criollo Ligero. While I was there I also ordered more of the CVVA Seco. After my order, there'll only be 1 pound of the seco left....

    LO Ct Broadleaf

I tried the 1DW but had burning challenges when used as wrapper. When I put the 1DW in with the ligero, it burned just fine. Since then, I've used CTBL filler when I want to add that flavor to a blend.

Interesting. Would they still be called mata fina, or should the name change being grown in another region? I wonder how it would compare...

Turned out pretty good. Rolled this one on a whim. .5 Honduran seco, 1 CVA seco, 1 criollo ligero bound in .5 nic binder, wrapped in the aforementioned CT American shade. It was tastey, not peppery, and the Honduran filler didn't overwhelm it. Just a smooth stogie for doing my weekly dump run.

My technique for paper molding hand rolls

I'm going to have to try this out. I hadn't thought about re-using the paper as I have always taped it to hold it together. The hair clips are a great idea! And heavier paper should be useful too... Thanks for sharing @Gdaddy !

A Proposition for All You Homerollers

Cigar reviewing is funny business. We talk about our cigars ROTT, after 6 weeks, after 6 months, after 1 year...I'm still green in this realm but find some cigars that I don't like right off the table are great a year later while some that were pretty good right off the table are blah after a...

    Progress update

How long do they stay wrapped in newspaper? If they sit overnight, you might be pleased with the veins being pushed into the bunch for the binder. You can also re-wrap paper after putting the wrapper leaf on...
