• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

    Homebrewers - Whats Fermenting?

Lol I told you they get pretty crazy. Does the blowoff smell like nice esters or sulfury rhino farts?

    Homebrewers - Whats Fermenting?

Just make sure to tie it so they have room to flow around. That way you get the most out of them.

There's only a couple others but they're small operations and selection is limited for cigar tobacco. There's a lot of nice leaf between the two vendors though. They've been getting more variety in recently too.

    Homebrewers - Whats Fermenting?

I used to do this except I would line my bottling bucket with the strainer. It definitely works as long as the mesh is fine enough. If your just pouring your wort into the fermenter this method is a real good option. Plus you can squeeze some extra wort out as you filter. I use my auto siphon to...

    Homebrewers - Whats Fermenting?

Nice!!! Consider getting yourself a nylon hop sack with a draw string next time you put in an order. They cost about a buck or so and are great especially for hoppy brews. From one hop head to another, filtering hop pellets out of wort is a real pain in the ass!!!

I don't know much about blending honestly other than I know I really like criollo and corojo together. Together they hit a lot of the notes I enjoy in cigars. Of all the kits this is the one I generally recommend.... http://wholeleaftobacco.com/Terroso-Profundo-CgrBlnd4.htm I've been rolling...

Not to be an enabler but one of the best parts of the hobby is the price. A # of leaf is about $20 and is good for a couple boxes worth of home rolls. If you find a blend you like and can roll a decent smoke I think it's kind of a steal.

When I used to play classical piano as a kid this was my favorite song to play. I now prefer the heavier sound of it coming from a live band, just badass. Another favorite and these 2 guys cover it pretty well...

^ Not a bad way to start. It would be nice if it came with a bit more leaf though. It took me more than 8 cigars to get the leaf casing right so the first dozen or so practically weren't even smokeable. Wholeleaftobacco.com has kits that come with enough leaf for 15-20 cigars and are about $12...

FWIW I'd probably start with the Oscuro kit since the binder it comes with is thicker. It should be easier to learn the process with compared to the Sumatra from the other kit. I manhandled a decent amount of binder leaf figuring things out lol.

Grab a wooden cutting board, pizza cutter, and some glue and your set! Which kits did you get?

    Adventures in home rolling

Give it a shot you'll probably like the way they look. Capping is tricky and can make a nice stick look like a dog rocket real quick. One of the added benefits is I can wrap 2 coronas with one wrapper instead of chopping it up just for a cap. It's not proper but it works and after all it is a...

Thanks fellas!! It's been a work in progress but I've gotten a lot better. Ive come to realize I really don't give a shit about making my sticks have caps anymore which I think has improved the overall aesthetics lol. I probably use a bit more glue than a factory roller but I've found caps to be...
