• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

    Labeling question (dates)

If you know the actual box date you should probably go with that though box dates are kind of rare with NCs. The only sticks I label NC wise are stuff like Anejos and I just put down the month and year I got them. Same system I use for labeling beers I age. Works well and its about as simple as...

    Down to Earth

To me earthy is a broad and sort of vague description that covers a lot of more specific flavors/aromas. Stuff like Spanish cedar, hay, or the mossy oak character of broadleaf would all be more detailed ways to describe earthy. Pretty much anything in the plants or earth section of the flavor...

    Today's Smoke (2004-2022 Archive)

One of my top 5 of 2014. Cedar, cream, sweet spice, pepper. Med-full body medium strength. Every one Ive smoked has had great construction. If these are still available they shouldn't be because they're damn good.

I agree with this 1000%. If they released these without the press I'd stock up on them. Hell if they had a soft press I'd stock up on them.

    Over Humidified or Under Humidified?

Put your sticks in a ziplock and remove as much air as possible then pop them in the freezer for 3-4 days. Beetle and temperature problems solved. As for your RH, Im with the others 72% is just way too high. Bring it down and your cigars will smoke better and the flavors will be more discernible.

    Adventures in home rolling

So I smoked an actual Eastern Standard earlier tonight. Theres some similarities but probably more differences. The results are pretty much what you'd expect though so it wasn't a total surprise. The broadleaf I used made the profile sweeter, more cocoa forward, and less peppery. The Caldwell...

Going to smoke an actual Eastern Standard later to find out. I also have to keep in mind this is still rough around the edges without being rested. I'll definitely be rolling more I can say that much.

    Interesting Take On Cuban Cigars

This is really spot on. I never really noticed how hard it was to find out the tobaccos used in the bunch until I started rolling my own. No one talks about the fillers they use its always very vague.
