• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

    Ginormous new humidor

Yes and no. There is no heat output from the light, but they do generate a TON of heat overall. It's just not output in the same way as a typical light.

    Pretty sure this isn't right

If you are asking whether or not your hygro is correct, you've already skipped a step in setting up your humidor. Check out this link on seasoning your humidor. IMHO, probably the most important step to be honest. You must, must, MUST calibrate your hygrometer FIRST. Check your local...

Wineador trays: Shallow, deep or shelves?

I don't have any of the above currently, but I've definitely been thinking about it because while 95%+ of my stash is in original boxes, I'm getting to the point where I'm wasting too much space because most of the boxes are half or more empty. I like the shelves for storage of boxes for aging...

The last thing I thought I'd buy today.....

If you go with Heartfelt, you might consider tearing apart those built in humidifiers on the lid and removing whatever is in them and filling them with the beads. Beyond that, I agree with the above, go with the tubes to save space (with Heartfelt).

    Today's Smoke (2004-2022 Archive)

Short and PLPC? I'm jealous. My conversation with the Mrs. was, "you are going to stink, and you had two last week.". Bah.

What Humidity do keep your cigars at?

Look into the HCM/Shilala beads, they allow you to set your own set-point. Trying to get to an accurate and steady 67 using a mixture of Heartfelt beads will most likely just drive you nuts.

    Favorite CURRENTLY SMOKING stick

OK, so let's see if it's possible for everyone to follow the rules here. The question is, what is your current favorite Habanos stick? It should be something in your current rotation that you have available. And you can only post ONE specific cigar as an answer! For me...gotta be the...

    I have a super-dumb question about Heartfelt beads ...

Easiest solution, IMHO, is a piece of wax paper. Cheap and easy to replace. Really though, depends on your individual set up.

    I have a super-dumb question about Heartfelt beads ...

Yep, you can get either tubes or filled tubes, whichever you prefer. Why are you wanting to get 70% beads? Would you rather keep your cigars at 70% RH, or are you trying to compensate for something else? Those footlocker style humis are deep, so you will get some variation in RH due to...

What is your favorite Habano brand?

It's just about impossible for me to pick ONE, but I picked Montes. The minute the poll popped back up and I saw Partagas under Montecristo I went, "ohhhhhhhhhhhhh, man...". I think if someone were to offer me unlimited Habanos for the rest of my life, but I could only have two brands it...

    NC vs CC

I think that's one of those thing's that will depend on each individual smoker. Personally, I don't agree with the above as there is a taste that I get from CCs that does not exist from NCs. Plenty of awesome NCs out there with GREAT quality, but they still can't take the place of Cuban tobacco.

    Elegant Cigar Lighter

I love "accessories....holy crap. CIGARY43! What the hell man?! I can't conc3ntr9t on tiping with that d@nm avatass stairing at me! OK, back to focusing. I love "accessories", but the only cigar I'll ever have from here on out, if I can help it, is an ST Dupont. Of course, that assumes I...

    Golf and Herf in Primm, Nevada May 20, 21 & 22, 2011

Would love to, brother, but I'm already taking beaucoup time off between now and then for family coming down to visit. Gotta hold on to the job so I can keep funding the cigar and golf addiction, you know?

Damn brother, I'm starting to question this "job" you say you have! Seriously, I wish I had the availability for this (and some additional planning time, *cough*). Seems like a great way to finally get the wife to the Vegas area. Have fun, the courses look awesome!

    Storing Habano's

I'm sorry, but that is incorrect. Mold can indeed be wiped off without leaving discoloration (not all of course, but most mold (white) caught early enough) and it can be distinguished by the naked eye if you know what you are looking for. I'm not going to go into depth, there are tons of...
