    Top Five Cheap go-to's

Lots of great suggestions so far but one that I haven't seen mentioned is one of my go-to sticks, Joya de Nicaragua Red. They are about $5. They are mild but still have flavor.

    Real or fake

Well it's been determined as a fake but I've had my share of fake Cohibas. In my opinion, if they are bought anywhere other than in Cuba they have been terrible but I've had fakes that were made and purchased in Cuba and while they didn't taste like a true Esplendido, they were lovely cigars...

    flavor vs. nicotine content

I posted a question in the "cigar review" section a few days ago and I didn't get any opinions. A couple of brothers commented that they wondered the same thing. I was really surprised that nobody chimed in with an answer or opinion. So assuming that there is no such thing as a stupid...

    Adventures in home rolling

Growing a few plants is actually quite easy. If you have grown tomatoes it is about the same. I grew my plants in 5 gal. plastic pails rather than making a new garden. It allowed me to move them in and out of the sun when needed. The growing was easy. It was the curing / fermenting that was...

question on strong vs. high nicotine

I've never been sure about the term "strong" or "full body", etc. I always assumed that it was referring to the flavor profile. Sometimes it seems that people use these terms to describe the nicotine content. Is it possible to have a strong tasting cigar with low nicotine or a very mild cigar...

MUWAT Fire Cured - new vs. aged

Last year I bought a couple of the MUWAT Fire Cured just to try them. I smoked the first one shortly after I got them. The pre-light aroma was full-on campfire. The smokiness was strong and I was intrigued. When I lit it up the smokiness was the dominant flavor. I'm not a good cigar...

    Young Cohiba

Don't worry about not liking it "fresh". It's a great example of what makes CC's great. It may get better with age but it already great.

    Mold Removal

Yeah, like Lionel said, use alcohol. You can use rubbing alcohol instead of the little wipes because you may need a lot of it. Wash it with the alcohol, let it sit to evaporate and then do it again until there are no visible spores left. You need to do this even if you're only using it for...

    Another Humidification Problem

There are lots of opinions, here's mine. Take out the Bodevas and use one of them in a plastic bag to calibrate your hydrometer. Leave it for a few days. Meanwhile, open the door of you wineador and let the 70% basement air in to get the RH up. Don't worry about the 75 deg. temperature, it's...

    New Wineador

Nice setup. I see you've got a bunch of Habanos JO cigars. I'd never seen them before so I looked them up. They seem to be a small manufacturer out of Florida run by Cuban ex-pats. Are they worth buying a few? Any thoughts ?

    Ahhhh mold! Need advice

I agree to stay away from bleach due to the smell. I'd never heard of using hydrogen peroxide for mold. I looked it up and it is listed as a good, non-toxic way to remove mold. I have always used alcohol (not rubbing alcohol) to remove mold from cigars. It has always worked well for me.

    Ahhhh mold! Need advice

Just when I thought I knew all about mold and how it works, this post shows up. I could see one stick being wet inside when you bought it and then the mold starts regardless of the RH in the humidor because the excess moisture is already in the stick. That would also explain why the mold in on...
