    First cigar?

As a teenager I started with Old Port - rum flavored and wine dipped. I don't know if they are available in the US. I wonder what I would think of them today.

    Funny Cigar Stuff

There are lots of questions on this site where people ask if it is plume or mold. That photo would be a good one to show what real mold looks like.

    Cigars in Movies

My favorite cigar show is Boston Legal. I think in the first couple of episodes the guys were smoking Cohiba's on the balcony. I think they where Esplindidos. After the first episode or two they smoke the same cigar in every episode for 5 seasons but the bands have been removed. I wonder why...

    Your most rare/expensive stick?

As Herfdog said, I can buy dog rockets in Canada and pay more than you Americans pay for Opus X (well almost). I just smoked my most expensive, a Cohiba Siglo III. It was great! I don't collect so I don't have anything rare. If I get 'em I smoke 'em. I was able to keep the Siglo in my...

    JDN video

Very nice. I didn't know they we locally owned. It made me decide to order some of their cigars. I've really enjoyed them in the past.

    Rocky Patel Factory Tour

Great video. Rocky may not make the best cigars but he makes a great video. I find it hard to believe how many times each cigar is inspected for imperfections. Especially the step where they inspect them, box them, then they are removed from the box, inspected again and put back in the box...

So, I have a cigar question..

Here's a guess. Maybe if you freeze a cigar the water crystals expand and therefore loosen the leaf. Since the moisture is actually in the leaf and not between them I don't think this makes sense but I'm just spitballing here.

So, I have a cigar question..

I think this is referring to the original fermentation that all tobacco must go through before it can be made into cigars. It is usually done using the natural heat generated by the leaves being piled up and the resulting chemical process that happens, but the process can be accelerated by...

    Too far gone?

Also, if you look at the squares above the name you will see the name cuts off the third row of white squares. There should be three full rows of white squares, not almost three. That particular label is very common in Cuba. The cigars that have these labels seem to all be from the same...

    Smokin too slow

I have to re-light about 50% of my cigars but usually only once. I draw about once per minute but I always do a double draw. I draw once quick and let the smoke out immediately. This gets the end going and insures that on my second draw, which is longer, there will be adequate smoke volume...

    My Sexy Humiwhore

I did the steam trick with my wineador. I did it twice and it was all set. So much faster than room temp water. You may need a bit more because you have more wood in yours but my guess is it may be there already.

How should I dry some cigars ?

I've had experience with mold issues in the past. This was a full box of 25 Cubans so I was motivated to save them. After the cigars were removed I put alcohol in each tube with the cedar still inside and I shook it around to kill off any spores. I then took the cedar out to let it fully dry...

How should I dry some cigars ?

I just packed up the cigars and put them in my humi. They look great. Before going into my humi I put them in a plastic bag with a hygrometer to insure that they were drier than 70%. They were so all is good. I know that many of you are suspicous about the idea of wiping cigars with alchol...

    Current cc le

Having access to CC's is not always good. I find that our choices of non-CC's is quite limited here in Canuckland. Everyone wants to stock CC's because they can so there's little shelf space left for everything else. And yes... the prices are crazy high !

How should I dry some cigars ?

The cigars were given to me as a gift and they were in sad shape. I am trying to recover them. They went into the freezer because I don't trust them and am worried about beetles. I need to take care of that before they go into my humi. They came out of the freezer a few days ago. They are...
