I've said this before - but this is just a reminder. I'll be breaking BOTL over time in order to get it into a far better place. Just be patient if you can't reach us! We'll be back
I'm drink'n some Tyullamore Irish Whisky but I'm not smoking. I'm in Canada and it is FREEEEZING here today. But Spring is around the corner and so is cigar season.
I just read through all 11 pages of this thread. It is interesting to see the difference between what Americans drink and...
I was never interested in cigarettes. I have enjoyed cigars since I was a teenager. They were always "cool". I only ever smoked a few per year. I'm 55 years old now and have began taking cigars seriously for the past few years. I'm curious about other people's road to cigars.
Welcome.
I'm from Almonte (near Ottawa)
I know what you mean about our high Canadian prices. I hate to admit it but these crazy taxes do stop me from smoking more. Maybe Big Brother is right !
SUGAR.... I never heard of that one. I'll try that with some of my friends who get a bit wozzie with anything bigger than a 38 ring gauge.
Oh yeah, welcome!
I only started to become serious about cigars a few years ago. Being a DYI type of guy I decided to build my first humidor. Here's a photo
Of course the DIY bug is strong so I decided to try rolling my own. The sticks on the right are my home made ones.
I have since gone one...
My house drops to about 35% RH in the dead of winter and my humidor can't keep up. I use a shot glass with a piece of the absorbent foam in it and add some distilled water. I put it in the humidor to add the extra RH that I need.
Nacho Daddy, thanks for the link. I will study it well so I don't screw up the pop quiz.
Cigary43, thanks for the info but I think I'm more confused now?? Maybe that's the master plan of Habanos, to keep us guessing.
Bruce.
I am new to this forum. I used to be very active on a boat building forum and the mantra there was always "pictures - pictures - pictures" . I guess it's the same here. I only have pictures of me with cigar in mouth and hairy, naked belly exposed. I don't think I'd be doing anybody a favor...
"Ash blossom", what a great description. Is this a real cigar term or did you make it up?
I have wondered about this phenomenon also. The theory posted by javajunkie is a good one. I'll wait to hear what others have to say.

I am not sure I understand the numbering method that Romeo & Juliet, Montecristos and other use. For example, there is the Monte No. 1 and No.2 and No.3, etc. It seems to me that each number is a specific shape and ring gauge but may be available in different lengths. The ring gauge and shape...
I just returned from a week in Cuba. The weather was OK but the cigars were GREAT!
I have only been serious about cigars for a few years. I smoke 1 or 2 per week and none in the cold winter months (I live in Canada). I have had a number of Habanos cigars in the past but it was always...
