• I've said this before - but this is just a reminder. I'll be breaking BOTL over time in order to get it into a far better place. Just be patient if you can't reach us! We'll be back

    Tupperware is spectacular !

I joined this forum a few months back and one of the many things I've learned so far is that many cigar aficionados store their cigars in ugly Tupperware. The desk top humidor is more for show than anything else. I recently increased my cigar inventory so I decided to try Tupperware since I...

    Thank The Lord!

I'm glad she is OK. The thoughts of what could have been are scary. My son was in a serious accident a few years ago. He's OK. I know what you mean about that sickening feeling when you hear the news. Thank the Lord.

    2014 Tobacco Garden

Very cool ! I love the photo of your processing area. I've grown a bit and rolled a bit but nothing like the production you seem to have. How about some more information. How many types do you grow? Do you have a favorite blend or do you just play around with blending? How many cigars do...

Why do people not write the word ****** ?

I may be breaking some sort of unwritten rule but, why does everyone seem to disguise the word when they write in in the forum ? Wow, I didn't realize that the forum would not even let the word be posted. I am, o fcourse, referring to the word "PayP**

    High Humidity

Don't worry. It's just wood. It can go from dry to wet to dry without any adverse affects. It just swells and shrinks a bit. All you have to do is get it stable where you want it.

    The grand experiment

This is a great experiment. Good luck with 2.0 I don't have any idea what could have happened other than maybe they got burnt by the sun. This is possible, but unlikely when they are indoors. I do have a couple of suggestions for you. I know you have been doing your research so this is...

    Problem with calibrating hygrometer

The two brands of electronic hygrometers that I was calibrating were Springfield ($12) and Hygoset ($20). They are cheap but they work great.

    Problem with calibrating hygrometer

Problem solved. It occurred to me that while a salt solution will hold the RH at 75%, it may not be enough to get the contents of the bag to 75% when my house air is very dry. My house is at about 38% right now. I opened the bag and put a couple of breaths into the bag. This fogged the bag...

    Problem with calibrating hygrometer

I thought the salt test was 100% accurate. The chemical properties of salt result in a stable 75% RH. The amount of water added is not important as long as all the salt is not dissolved. At least that is what I learned in school and on countless hygrometer sites. Am I wrong ?

    Problem with calibrating hygrometer

I have 3 inexpensive electronic hygrometers. Two of one brand and one of another. I decided to calibrate them. I put them in a sealed plastic bag with a tablespoon of damp salt. After 3 days the readings are 65%, 65%, 63%. I understand that they can be off calibration but 10% is quite a...

    Help repairing dry cracked cigars

The pectin will work great. If the wrapper is peeling back then you can glue it down. If a piece of wrapper has broken off then you may need to patch it. I suggest what Chimmay said. Just take a small piece of wrapper off a cigar you have smoked. It's very easy. Just slice the cigar with a...

    Decorating with cigars

I have an office (man cave) in my new home. I've made a couple of cigar decorations for the walls. The one on the left is some tubes from some Cubans. Behind them is a tobacco leaf in the shape of Cuba. The one on the right contains 3 cigars that I rolled myself. I like to try rolling...

    For fans of CAO

I just received a sampler pack of CAO cigars from Cigar King (one of our BOTL sponsors) I'm a fan of CAO products and the price for these 12 cigars ( 3 each of MX2, LX2, Italia, Brazillia) was less than the box pricing. What I particularly liked was the packaging. It is a nice box with a...
