• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

    CAO Vision humidor question

I've seen them in person, in my opinion it's just a little better in quality to the 20 count humidors you can get from pretty much any site with their logo on it. I would think that it would work but not very well, you probably will have to monitor it because it probably won't seal extremely...

Opus X and Padron '26 vs. Cohiba Behike

I'm all for supporting local businesses but if those are the prices for Padron 1926s and Opus, you need to find another shop.

Be careful about "saving for that special occasion"

(I've said it here before) A wise brother once told me; "Don't save a special cigar for a special occasion because that occasion will already be memorable. Smoke a special cigar on a regular day to make that day special" Exactly what I was thinking. As long as it's not in the foot of the cigar...

An unasked (yes google) original question!!

It depends, but if you enjoy it then no. If you're absolutely plastered and not paying attention to the cigar at all, yes. In my opinion, smoke it by yourself after a long day...Make your average or even bad day memorable by smoking a special cigar.

    Tatuaje TAA 2015

My taste buds thank you, my bank account loathes you.

"Based off" - What does that even mean?

It depends on the person saying it and the context. I read it the same as above, a re-release of the 2011 and "based off" the barclay rex and the pork tenderloin. "Based-off" could mean that it's the same blend but different crop. It could mean that it was blended to meet the same flavor profile...

    Tatuaje TAA 2015

The 2011 was one of the best cigars I've ever had, I should have gone deeper...I will not make the same mistake again. Haven't been able to try the 2014 since I was out of work at the time of release and now they're pretty hard to get at a reasonable price but I hear it was nearly as good.

Montecristo Habano label comparison old ('06-'12) vs. new ('13 to now)

I'm in agreement that the new band is awful, it looks like they want it to look more the like NC Montys. Personally, I prefer the band from 2003-2006 when they weren't embossed.

    Did Partagas change bands?

If you get good with that site, you will be a Habano expert. It's a fantastic resource that we're very lucky to have around, it as pretty scary that we almost lost it about a year ago.

    Cigar etiquette question

Honestly, if a shop had a problem with me bringing something from home to smoke, I wouldn't be a customer anymore(I wouldn't argue or be mad, it would just be the last time I go to the shop). They should be well aware that cigar smokers have their preference to RH and resting/aging. That being...

    Cbid Question

Also, always check the prices before you click bid. I've seen people bid more than what CI has it listed for on their site. If it's not at least 25% off retail, don't bid. I generally only buy if it's something good and near 50% off.

    Best cherry popper

I was going to say a Fuente or Hyde Park too. The Hyde Park is actually not a bad cigar but is overpriced...so I'd recommend a Fuente if possible, especially a Hemingway, easy to light, not heavy hitting and they're always good. Harder to find but would probably still be quite enjoyable to a...

    Got my sampler today

There is only one vendor that I know that sells samplers, completely legit but their prices are rather high. Generally, for samplers you need to get them from BOTL selling multiple items(much like the NCs in the buy/sell forums here)...you just have to know where those places are, which...

    Just pondering

Previously CCs shipped really young, while often NCs are rolled then left to ferment for a while then released. It has been rumored(possibly confirmed) that recently they've(Habanos) been resting the cigars after rolling which is why some claim that the current production is smoking well young.

What is the allure of the torpedo or perfecto shape?

There are several ways to cut a torpedo, some of which may or may not have varying effects. You can V cut and smoke horizontal or vertical, never noticed a difference but I've heard some people prefer one to the other(I think they're crazy). I've seen slant, straight cuts which give you a larger...

    Eye-candy wrappers and packaging

I think Leaf by Oscar really takes the cake, it's one of the few that I really didn't care to read reviews, I was sold on the idea and presentation...then I read the reviews before I clicked buy. Foundry has great presentation but I haven't bit because I've never heard anything good about them.
