• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Why is the wrapper so important?

The wrapper does no more for the profile than changing the seco, viso, ligero, binder, or filler ratios. It's a piece of the profile and nothing more or less. I would expect a different wrapper to create different flavors and nuances, it's a different equation with its own results.

Fair enough... I only mentioned it because our bodies do use the sodium to regulate blood volume and pressure as well as helping control our water balance. Salt gets a bad rep but its also an important electrolyte so its not entirely evil.

Keep in mind if your sweating a lot you'll need a higher sodium intake. Now theres obviously still limits but it'll be more than what MFP is capping you at. Generally if your eating well and drinking enough water salting your food isn't something you'll have to worry about.

Cigar Dojo's top ten cigars of 2016 (and I haven't tried any of them yet)

Ive had the Maestro del Tiempo in both vitolas. Good sticks but I thought the GOTF and Lirio Rojo were both better releases. Also tried the Tabernacle lancero. Better than the Charter Oak release but doesn't quite reach the bar he set with El Gueguense IMO.

Rodriguez 84 Maduro. Local brand that's doing their stuff out of the My Fathers factory. I think they're still setting up their site for web orders but I know they take phone orders and ship international.

Toffee, molasses, and just the right amount of earthiness. Love this blend.

    Reinado Cigars

This is depressing I was just thinking about the GER the other day while browsing smallbatch. For whoever is interested if you dig around a little it looks like some Reinado stuff is still out there. No GERs though

Love this blend but really wish they'd do a release without the box press or some LE tubos or something. Shouldn't take a 54 RG for a cigar to feel right in the hand.

    Bacon flavored cigars?

I wonder what you'd get if you fire cured leaf with beechwood like maltsters do for the rauchmalz(smoked barley) used in smoked beers. Beechwood smoked malt tastes and smells like bacon.

New one for me. Slightly wavy burn but otherwise good first impression.

    Homebrewers - Whats Fermenting?

Kegged up that Brown Porter today and I'm digging the way it turned out. Full of roasty and toasty brown malt goodness. Also pasteurized my second full scale attempt at a Berliner and no hints of cheese this time lol! Just that clean Arnold Palmer-esque character. Having this down makes dumping...

Cigars After a Run or Workout

^ nailed it. Fruit, gummy bears, any simple sugar for a quick boost for your blood sugar. Similar to what diabetics do if their levels start going too low. Same reason why soda or some sugar makes people feel better when they get nic sick.

Cigars After a Run or Workout

Bingo its your glycogen being depleted and the cigar dropping your blood sugar level making you feel like shit. Get some carbs in. Just hit chest myself about 15 minutes ago...had my shake and some rice and now enjoying a cigar.

Been a while since there was an update ITT so I figured I'd pop in to see how everyone is doing in the midst of holiday season. Ive been giving this carb cycling thing a go while eating at maintenance and have been enjoying it so far for the most part. Ive kept the split simple cycling...

    If you haven't, you should...

I figure that one has caught on a bit by now. I was at a shop in Little Havana and was surprised they carried them. Guy working the place said he's been selling a lot of em. The Warped GOTF is another thats no secret. However the Les CHATTeux didn't seem to get the buzz it deserved, very unique...
