• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

    Homebrewers - Whats Fermenting?

Brewed up a brown Porter today as part of a scale up contest with our LHBC. It's a style I've really come to love, I think it's the brown malt. Also put a NE IPA on tap earlier this week and so far seems to be getting good reviews. Unfortunately though my first full scale batch of Berliner came...

FWIW your average 5% pilsners, blondes, and pale ales are normally going to be in the ballpark of 15g carbs. IPAs and other higher abv beers start pushing into the 20-30g per 12oz.

    Homebrewers - Whats Fermenting?

Been busy lately and just realized I haven't checked in around here in a bit. Ive been gletting a lot of brewing done. Brewed my first ~2bbl batch of Watermelon Berliner and a new IPA, made some changes to our Hef, and am getting ready to keg an APA made with a new exp hop. My first lager, a...

Just getting your diet in check would be a great start. You don't even have to dive into cutting calories. Just getting an idea of where your maintenance is then focusing on balance is something we should all do IMO. Are you able to do pull-ups? Combined with push-ups and a little...

Absolute truth right there! This will be the second year that I've timed things out right to enjoy a nice short bulk over the holidays. If I don't get too crazy I can keep the lean bulk going till Feb/Mar then start reeling it back and repeat the process. Glad to see you guys still going at it...

    FDA Regulations (Hypocrisy & BS)

You have to understand that the alcohol industry is not only more heavily regulated but has been for some time now. Regulations on manufacturing, import, packaging, labeling, sale, distribution, etc are all things the industry has been abiding by yet is just being enforced on cigars. I love...

Rodriguez '84 Maduro. Local company that's been working/hooked up with My Fathers. Almost like a medium bodied version of my favorite house blend from El Titan De Bronze. If you like boutiques then this stick should be on your radar.

    Homebrewers - Whats Fermenting?

Was visiting a buddy of mine yesterday that's the brewmaster for one of the new FL breweries and got to have a cool conversation about the new IBU testing methods. Also got to try an Amber they tweaked the IBU on using the iso30 extract and was impressed how smooth it was. Basically the smooth...

    Homebrewers - Whats Fermenting?

Put a hop order in today for some 2016 Citra and Cascade for an IPA. Hope this years harvest is nice. I'm praying that all these new varieties popping up will make some of the favorites easier to get consistently. Prices on a lot of stuff didn't change and order limits were higher than years...

I had a plant(not a Reaper) do the same thing forever until I moved it into a bigger pot. It wouldn't grow passed like 2 or 3 small leaf sets while any other pepper plant I've grown had no issues with the same root space. I chalked it up to either being a weak seed/finicky plant or that the...

    Homebrewers - Whats Fermenting?

Brewed a Helles today and it was about as smooth a brew day as you get. Wort smelled and tasted amazing, like cereal with honey. While my closet is usually perfect for clean ales it's not quite cool enough for lagers so I'm setting up a swamp cooler for the first time in years! I won't be able...
