• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

    Question about the AF Hemingway

We tend to hammer the shops, but keeping in mind that the industry standard is 70%, and the humidor at the local b&m is opened more frequently than the one you keep at home, you have to wonder how accurate is the hygrometer in these places. Keep in mind my nearby shops don't have a lounge, so...

Stopped in a cigar lounge today and..

Hey, I'm always up for a heated and passionate discussion. If we all agreed on everything, we'd all be liberals. Some of these posts just make me scratch my head. On the other hand, if I'm ever in your neck of the woods can you take me to that uggo swamp. Cigars and drinks would be on me...

Stopped in a cigar lounge today and..

@Master Shake : Why should you have been offended, you were not the original poster? From the tone of your last post to me, you seemed awfully bent out of shape. Hence my apology. Why would the number of posts I've made on this board make any difference? So to "drop knowledge" is a dick...

Stopped in a cigar lounge today and..

I agree, there are a lot of assumptions in this thread, with no real facts to back them up. We're all assuming poor behavior on the part of the business owner, simply because the OP didn't get what he wanted. The OP gave few details, including the shop name. So we can't even verify the web...

Stopped in a cigar lounge today and..

Wow, kinda harsh response. Didn't mean to offend you, but that post was directed to the OP, and the situation he posted about, not a general "lounge next door" analogy. Anyway, let's look at your post. You can begin by taking an economics lesson and rereading the original post. The guy...

Stopped in a cigar lounge today and..

He didn't refuse you service, if I remember correctly, he was willing to sell you the cigar. He just wasn't willing to let you take up his space to smoke your small purchase. Big difference. He did this based on the amount of money he was making off your sale, not the color of your skin, what...

Stopped in a cigar lounge today and..

Why does this need to be publicly posted and visible? Your third sentence is what's inherently wrong with American society today. What would be the basis of that lawsuit? Unless they were discriminated against because they were a minority/woman/handicapped/etc, there is no basis simply...

Stopped in a cigar lounge today and..

You know, I equate these types of discussions to the ones on coin forums where the poster complains because a bank won't "do business" with him selling coin rolls, "because I'm a customer" even though he doesn't have an account at the bank. Not sure I would have used the same words @saracigars...

How to attend a cigar tasting?

Not gonna jump on the gurka bashing, as they do make a couple decent sticks. As far as the tastings, I attend one a month sponsored by a cigar bar in a nearby town. For $10 you get the cigar, liquor tasting, beer tasting, and a nice buffet. Its strictly a cash bar, but his prices are in line...

    Online ordering..

I'll throw a shout out for jr as well. The Id me discount also applies to first responders. JR also let's you stack discount codes, so you can use all you have at the time you order. Never had an issue with orders.

Cigars After a Run or Workout

Okay, here's what I came up with: 5:15 pm, blood sugar was 145. took my insulin, ate dinner. 7:15 pm, blood sugar was 132. Started the smoke, a La Gloria Cubana Serie R Black #58. 9:15 pm, finished the cigar, blood sugar is 99. There may be something to this, but keep in mind I do take...

Cigars After a Run or Workout

Just to play devil's advocate, there may be more involved than just the cigar. Several factors can influence the drop in BGL. For instance, you didn't eat or drink anything during the smoke, so when was the last time you ate prior to smoking? This could cause the drop by itself. What...

    Newbie Resource Area.

Not everybody understands things at the same level. I could read a thread, get confused, and hope somebody can come in and answer in the old thread. Or, I can post my question in a new thread and wait for more experienced, active members to answer. Me, personally, I don't know enough to offer...

Cigars After a Run or Workout

I'm not a doctor, but I do know both nicotine and caffeine are stimulants. May not be a noticable effect, but if you've already elevated your heart rate, this could slow down recovery time. I don't know what you mean by "after a run" but I'd wait a bit. Also, nicotine is known to increase the...

What cigar items did you get for Christmas?

We are actually holding off on Christmas until tomorrow so my granddaughter can be here with us, so not sure what "Santa" brought yet. But my son got me a nice leather 3 finger case with cutter, and a set of small, cigar-shaped flasks that fit perfectly in that case.. Should fit real nice in...

Need a new lighter what is a good one that's not 200

I have quite a few, most all were freebies with cigar purchases. Two are vertigo and they work great. I did pick up one similar to this about two years ago, http://www.lightersdirect.com/Quattro.2083/Quattro+Chrome+Satin.16202.html?osCsid=61210aae7a2bae33cca83991ae26ea03 And it's the lighter...

    Bargain rye?

I'll second the Crown Royal. It was under 30 bucks in PA. wasn't very popular here, but it wasn't advertised at all.

What is your avatar? Why is it your avatar? Redux

Mine is Mario Puzo. No particular reason, love The Godfather, and he is enjoying a cigar. It has nothing to do with the screen name, which came from work. And no, I'm not from Nebraska. It is the only screen name I use.
