• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

    Dating Your Wife and/or Daughters

Been married 28 years, two kids. One of each. Both adults now. Through their school years we kept pretty busy with sports and other activities. Wouldn't call it dating, per say. Boy was easy, Daughter, on the other hand, was a bit of a challenge. Between band concerts, cheerleading, and...

    Custom zippos

Looks like from a quick glance at the zippo site you can have anything put on one. You can upload your own artwork or photos. Not sure about any added cost.

    Show off your Zippos

Here's another one. This was a freebie back in 90s for taking a survey. Date code puts it at 1996. Supposed to gold-plated. This has never been used.

    My uncle's pipes and tools

Lots of great threads on cleaning and restoring. Unless the stem is chewed through, they can be cleaned as well. I just started buying and restoring pipes for collecting purposes (I'm more of a cigar guy). Follow the instructions, take your time, and you'll be fine. The tools you got are...

    Hello from Somerset PA

Welcome! Another Western PA person here, Indiana County. Worked for quite some time in the Donegal Area, and covered 7 Springs for a few years during ski season. Great area to work in. If you make it towards Latrobe check out Joey D's Cigar Bar at DiSalvo's Station Restaurant. Great atmosphere!

    Show off your Zippos

It is indeed! Second generation, 1947-1949 (first had a one step base, and was slightly larger, third used a standard sized insert in the base). No markings on the case, "Zippo" is stamped on the insert along with the patent number, which is how you can date it. I collect table lighters...

    Today's Bourbon

Read about this in a jr catalog. Only one state store in the area carried it. Bought two bottles to get me through the NHL playoffs. Besides loving the whiskey, the Pens won the Stanley Cup.

    Show off your Zippos

As a cigarette smoker I love a zippo, carry one every day. Last two were gifts, first from my coworkers in the mid 90s. Gold plated with black padded inserts. Replaced that two years ago with a gift from my daughter, plain polished chrome. Both are engraved with my initials. The pick is of...

    Today's Bourbon

Forged Oak Orphan Barrel. 15 year old. Very smooth. Was able to pick this up a couple weeks ago. Being in PA options are limited, but a wholesaler buddy topped off about it. It was available as a special order with 200 bottles available. Was able to snag one. Got an email today that it is...

    New shirt

On the contrary. I'd have never thought to look for the place if not for your recommendation. Spent a bit of cash while I was there. I'd at least hit him up for some share of the commission on that sale. :)

    New shirt

Yep, that's the place. Great bar. Joey is a great guy, has a tasting event once a month. My son and I attend, been going for about two years now. For the 10 buck cover on those nights it's a great time. Good food, taste of liquor and beer. Boxes are discounted. Drink prices are...

    Quick fix cigars...?

Not a boutique but not bad, sized right, and inexpenssive: https://www.jrcigars.com/item/romeo-y-julieta-cigars/romeo-y-julieta-1875/romeos/juro6 Or these: https://www.jrcigars.com/item/h-upmann-cigars/h-upmann-1844-reserve/aperitif/up18at Small cigars, not cigarillos. Had em both, because...

    New shirt

Spot on. Stopped after a long day of shopping. Just a short hop from the mall, and not out of the way. Son and I went in while the women checked out the rest of the area (had my granddaughter, she needs about 10 more years before she can go in a place like that). Nice, comfortable...

    Road trip

Just have to say made the trip to Altoona today and stopped here on the way home. Picked a few sticks, talked the guy behind the counter, and had a short smoke while the women explored the downtown area. Definitely gonna be a stop on subsequent trips. Thanks for the tip.

    Name your top 3 Scotches...

Just started into scotch. What I like so far is Glenmorangie LA Santa. Their Original is also pretty good. I've also had one called "Sheep Dip" that is a blended scotch. I'm more of a bourbon guy, but I have the advantage of tasting different scotches and whiskies at the monthly tasting...

    Road trip

Nice. About every six weeks the wife and I make a run up to Blair Candy Co in Altoona; it about an hour or so from home. They have a small walk-in with decent selection, and good prices on bulk candy and snacks. Friendly staff, and they know a thing or two about cigars. No place to smoke...

Is this wrong, or is it just me?

Sad part is, he probably told everyone who inquired about them the same thing..."well, the guy before you offered more..."
