• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Minnesota Cigar Event: Cigars and Baseball 2019

No, I thought they had it later in the year. Then by the time I checked on it it was past. I contacted the organizer to get on his email list for this year.

I’m not sure I follow the math on this one. 12 teams x a 5’er each = 60 sticks. That would be 30 sticks to first, 20 for second and 10 for third.

    Humidor Purchase?

I use Boveda bags, too. Mostly short term storage. They work well. Nothing wrong using the small wood humidor to keep some sticks handy.

Wineador - top level humidity issues. Everywhere else - fine.

If you are still using beads and Boveda take the beads out. Using the two will tend to conflict. Beads do not supply as even humidity control as Boveda. When you wet beads they tend to be spikey. If you use a sensor like SensorPush or the Boveda Butler you will see that beads graph out spike...

    Humidor Purchase?

A good wood humidor is constructed as a box inside a box. The external wood box made out of some sort of wood product and a Spanish Cedar internal box at 1/8th” to 1/4” thick. Most of the humidor boxes you see advertised have only a very thin veneer of Spanish Cedar on the inside. Even...

I see the final standings are posted. I managed to go from 9th up to 6th place. All I can say is, “Its better to be lucky than good.” I have to admit that the nove up to 6th was pure luck. I even had my cigars all picked out. Are we doing this again next season?

    Smoking something other than Cigars

I’m going to do four racks of ribs and grill some chicken for Christmas Eve dinner. I put my rub recipe together yesterday. I think I’ll put them on cold smoke for a couple hours and then go to 225 until done. I need to select a cigar or two to smoke while smoking. Then on Christmas Day, I’m...

Good luck. My wife isn’t jumping for joy but she has realized an upside that every meal I cook is one she doesn’t. So she has accepted it. The thing I have done from the beginning is to never object to anything she wants to buy. In fact, often I suggest she get one with more features.

    Smoking something other than Cigars

I picked up the Yoder 480 from a local dealer. I kind of wanted to buy a product mask in the USA and from someone local. The other local choice that is USA made was Pits & Spitts. https://www.yodersmokers.com/ys480-pellet-grill.html

I used a combination of apple and cherry wood pellets on the turkey. It was a good combination with turkey. It gave a sweet smokey taste. I picked up Lumberjack pellets.
