• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

New Winedaor - humidity fluctuation help

Remember that the cigars aren't fluctuating several times per day, only the air is. The cigars don't have time to change. If the drain hole is plugged then the moisture that condenses out does not escape and will go back into the air as it warms up and everything stays solid. If there are...

New Winedaor - humidity fluctuation help

The RH of the air may fluctuate every time the fans turn on but your cigars are not affected. The moisture in cigars is very slow to change so a few minutes of change in the air will not affect the cigars. Also, the reason people plug the drain hole is to create a closed system so the the RH...

    Newb cc ?

I agree with all the post so far. CC's are consistently very good. I've never had one I didn't like. The flavor profiles do not have the variance that NC's have. I would not want to be limited to CC's but they are great and every cigar smoker should try a few. The only comment I can't agree...

Let's play another round of real or fake!!

If it's a fake, it's the best I've ever seen!

    DIY drawer!

There's many types of cedar and your're in Australia so I have no idea what type it is, but it looks great. Around here the most common type of cedar is "western red cedar". It is very aromatic and is a wood you defiantly want to avoid putting in your humidor.

    DIY drawer!

Nice job. Is that plywood? Not that there is anything wrong with that. People make a big deal about using Spanish Cedar and while Spanish Cedar is the best, any wood that does not give off an odor will work fine and most plywoods fits that bill. All wood will help hold and slowly release...

    Tupperdor Q's

Sometime I think the the brothers on this site forget that tupperware can also be used for food. I know this sounds exotic but trust me on this, I've done it. So getting back to the original question, the solution that I see is get a smaller tupperware container, hell, get a few sizes. Use...

    Size really does matter...

Has anyone cut a Churchill in half to make two shorties ? I've done this with my home-rolled but not yet with an expensive stick.

    Air purifier

I've been thinking about filter units for some time. I only smoke outdoors now so my winters are very long. I usually break it up with a vacation to Cuba. Not only are their cifars great, but you can smoke in all the bars which you can't do here. I have often read that the filter units don't...

    Seasoning Wineador Shelves and Drawers

I have found it takes several days to use shot glasses or dishes of water. The idea is to get the water to evaporate into the air and then be absorbed by the wood. Wiping the wood directly really speeds up the process and it doesn't bother the wood at all. It's all about increasing the...

    Help with humidor & rh

Sorry I missed that. It's a good test. I'd use it myself but I stopped using my desktop a long time ago. It still sits on my desk as a decoration. I've got a wineador now.

    Help with humidor & rh

This is all great advice you're getting. To summarize; Check the hydro by putting it is a zip lock with the Boveda Re-season the humi Check the seal on the lid with the paper test Add a second Boveda What is the RH outside the humi? Are you in a very dry environment? If so, then you will...

    Would you smoke these?

I did read the whole thread and I'm of the opinion, as are a number of others here, that they are fakes. The bands have numerous problems and I have have not seen a quality issue with the printing of bands in the past. Also, it is a commonly counterfeited brand. Of course I'm not an expert so...

    Would you smoke these?

Buying fakes is bad for the industry, but I have tried several fakes over the years. I would stay away from fakes made anywhere except Cuba. Cuba has a huge counterfeit industry and the fakes that they make are great cigars IMO. Maybe that's where these came from.

    Internet Cigar Sales are Down

I can believe that sales might be suffering for some manufactures but my guess would be that it is due to too much choice for the consumer and not due to lower internet sales overall.

Are these construction issues common? Or am I just lucky?

The photo shows a perfectly round hole about the size of a small straw. I've never seen that before. It would account for the lack of smoke. When you draw, all the air would rush down the hole (the path of least resistance) and there would be no smoke. It seems too large for beatles and...

Help! Was this cigar too humidified or too dry?

Defiantly the wrapper was too dry. I have often wondered about dry-boxing in a very dry environment like we have here when it is winter and the buildings are heated. Cigars take quite some time to respond to changes in a uniform way. In a dry box environment I would think that the wrapped...

    Hi from Ontario, Canada!

Welcome neighbor. I'm in Almonte. Like you, I'm always on the lookout for ways to buy cigars so that the taxes don't put me in the poor house.
