• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

    Beer O da day!

Pliny the Elder to kickstart a pre-funk before heading to watch a football game. This is what a DIPA should be like.. My first Moylans Hopsickle on deck, and curious to see how it'll compare. Ive heard good things. Happy Saturday gents, cheers!

    Beer O da day!

Sierra Nevada Life & Limb... Reminds me to an extent of the Stone Belgo Anise...only I liked this one considerably more. Not enough to ever buy again though.....for me it was just ok. Tastes to me like another belgian/stout hybrid, and that comes across as confusing to my palate. That's how it...

    Beer O da day!

1st i'd heard of this one....went to check it out, and saw it was a Scotch ale. Only Scotch ale i'd had before was Skull Splitter outta the UK. One of the only beers off the top of my head I can recall pouring out. Wow was right! Rates A- on BeerAdvocate, but that's one I just didn't get...

    Beer O da day!

Spaten Oktoberfest... Heard it through the grapevine Costco had cases for $22.99.....and I'd never had it. Bought a case....drank a few... Went back and bought another case. The fact you can buy by the case is appealing, but the less than $1/beer price tag makes it a no-brainer.

    Beer O da day!

Sierra Nevada Torpedo....haven't had one for a long time, and wanted to grab something in the 6 pack variety. This is making me even more excited that the Sierra Nevada Celebration is just around the corner......as for me, it's just about the best "hoppy" beer of any seasonal I've ever had...

    Upmann: #2 or Sir Winnie?

Coincidentally..... I'm having this very same dilemna currently. I've smoked a few Upmann 2's, and damn if they haven't been the best 2 of all the cuban pyramides i've smoked (including Montes, VR Unicos, & PSP2). I've only had one Sir Winnie (and it was young), but that was a very nice...

    Real Habanos?

Gonna agree w/ this.. Keep in mind, these are Siglo IIs...so not huge smokes. I'll admit I've never purchased any Sig I's or II's, but would assume some overlap may occur due to the smaller RG. Damn good fake Cohiba band if they're not real...but like I said, I'd go w/ real over fake based...

    Beer O da day!

We don't get Founders over here in the Northwest either. Had to acquire a couple 4 packs of the KBS in trade last March, and then just got a couple bottles of the regular breakfast stout on top of that. I too wish they were easier to get.

    Beer O da day!

Deschutes 23rd Anni XXIII.. Intended to get to this one yesterday, but after the Abyss, KBS, and a few others I was already in a happy place. This too is a nice beer...can actually pick up the citrus in it. Not as robust in flavor as the KBS or Abyss, but thats not necessarily a bad thing.

    Beer O da day!

Deschutes Abyss.. Very comparable in quality to the Founders KBS, but this is indeed it's own animal. Considerably more woody(oak) notes to this one, along with more of a burnt caramel taste...and slightly more hoppiness to this one on the finish, yet still has the heavy coffee & chocolate...

Founders KBS... Bourbon, Chocolate, Coffee, Black Licorice, w/ just a touch of Caramel-like sweetness.. O' my....

    Beer O da day!

Stone Belgo Anise RIS... Not feeling the Belgian yeast in this whatsoever. Only a few sips in, but just not digging this one at all. Especially on the heels of what was a very nice Founders Breakfast Stout.

    Beer O da day!

Heading out of town for the weekend, and bringing along a nice Stout sampler for the fall weekend getaway.... Here's whats comin' with. Only had one bottle of the KBS when it was last released, and it was magnificent. Curious to see what 6-7 months has done to it....as well as a full year...

    Beer O da day!

Night before last....I had an Ommegang Three Philosophers. Last night.....was my first try at Deschutes The Stoic. Hands down winner IMO of this little Quad battle was the Stoic. Very impressed w/ it and need to pick some more up now. Flavors were excellent and outshined the 3 Philosopher...

I can probably commit to something along those lines Nate. I'm still gonna let these rest a bit (just landed last night), but I've been interested in wrapper color and it's impact on flavor for a while now as well, so I'll certainly report back once I've smoked a coupe and reach a solid conclusion.

    My new Wineador

Uggh...yeah, forgot our Avatars also sometimes list city/state below. I'd prolly want the cooling feature to be functional if I were in the Sunshine all the time too. We don't have to worry about that here in the PNW. We're headed for our 6 month monsoon! :frownno:

    My new Wineador

I wouldn't want temps to get over 70 if it were me...hence putting it in a cooler section of the home (basement, near a vent for AC in Summer etc.). And it's not the temp you have to worry about for mold.....but humidity. W/ higher temps the main worry becomes beetle infestation. And that is...

Is your house Air conditioned? You don't even need it to run if it seals well and won't be seeing major fluxuations in Temp during Summer/Winter months. Just get some beads, put it in a cooler section of your home, and throw an Oust fan or two in there and you're good to go.
