• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

What's In a Taste and How Do We Know?

no SWALLOWING smoke, please! retrohaling is taking part of the drawn smoke off a cigar (or pipe, for that matter), and passing it out your nostrils through the sinus cavity. i find closing my mouth and pushing up against the roof of the mouth with the tongue the easiest way to explain it. the...

What's In a Taste and How Do We Know?

large part is experience; you learn by smoking. many brands, and many years part of it is innate; some people have naturally gifted palates. my biggest thing is to ACTIVELY pay attention. not only stop and think about it, but try to put it into words, either written or spoken. yes, talk...

    BOTL.org Newbie Sampler Thread (Archive)

this is part of why the novitiate mails out first, to ensure that they are following through, and also so the sponsorship doesn't unload a crap ton of high quality (nice retaliation, tommy boy, BTWs!) and get bundles in return or some such. in return, tenured members in good standing are...

    How much rubbing is enough?

if you can get and keep it lit, it works? seriously, from careful folding to hapazard stuffing, some don't even break it down a little. then there is the cube cut crowd, cutting flake and cake down into smaller segments. finally, rubbing it out can be just slightly fluffed or all the way to...

    Pipe newb "ah-ha!" moments

while i have a grinder with a removable and washable hopper for just such occasions, i think that would give you a little too fine a cut, and way less controllable. or you could use those little tobacco grinders i keep seeing at shittier tobacco shops? o)
