  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Yo Eric...there's gonna be a Drew Estate event on 4/11 at Nice Ash. Maybe you can score a few more samplers for our entertainment!
Maybe some Liga's, but this is enough acids to keep on hand for awhile. Think I'm taking a week break from this one. I only smoke about 3-4 a week, so rolling the dice with an acid is dicey proposition. However, I would try the atom maduro again. So far we're 1 for 3 on these smokes.

I have some c-notes that I pulled out of a buddy's dry ass humidor, they'd been sitting there dry for months. So then I've kept them in my humidor in a ziplock for another 2 years. Surprisingly enough, they turned into something good and interesting. It knocked off all the too much on them. I'd be much more interested in Acid if they could ever make a fucking subtle and good cigar. Their infused's are all over the top infused, instead a suggestion, its a lolly-pop.

I really liked the atom maduro, perfect balance. A maduro with a sweetened tip turned out to be a dark cherry experience with me. From what I've read, they toned down the infusion on that one. The nasty and the c-note seemed to be 75-80% infusion which ruined the experience for me.

Review number 4, the kuba kuba.

Alright, here we go again.
I'm going to give some of my background experience with the kuba, since I've had two prior to this. The first one, I smoked during my fantasy baseball draft. I ended up winning it that year. The second, I smoked after my draft, and I won my league again! I did not repeat this process for the next three years and failed to make the playoffs each year.
So, I was planning on smoking one after this years draft, but since so many BOTL have been gracious to me, I've been bombarded with new smokes and have not been in the mood for an infused smoke as of late. Until today! Today, my last round pick Yasmany Tomas was sent to the minors and Craig Kimbrel was traded to the Padres making my pick of Joaquin Benoit irrelevant. I must have upset someone upstairs.
Knowing this acid cigar could make my fantasy season, I jump in. I mean Easter is associated with Candy (somewhat unfortunately, but don't worry, my kids got tons of candy), so that means it's time for another acid review.
The kuba kuba:

5x50 robusto, probably the perfect size for this one. Initial sniff gives off some really, really sweet grass mixed with some smarties. It's a very sweet tip, but once again, it's an acid and it's a strong selling point. After about 10 minutes, I jump into the retrohale. I've found acids to be fairly one dimensional due to the infusion. Now, this is not always a bad thing since if it's good, why would you want it to change? The retrohale is incredibly smooth. Unlike the nasty and c-note, good quality tobacco is present. The infusion is stronger than the atom maduro, so it's hard to pick up flavors like regular cigars. This is easily more infused than the AM.

Alright, the tip is freakin delicious, and making me hungry, but after Easter breakfast and dinner, I must fight it. I put myself into a thought that this is not a cigar. It's not an Oliva V, Opus X, or anything like that. Stop comparing this to everything else and take it for what it is. Pretend it's not a cigar. When I put myself in that mindset, it takes off. This is a good un-cigar, I really like it.

Acid score 9/10.

You may wonder about the picture, but I'm pondering something. Now, I'm a very happily married man, and would never even think of ever, ever, cheating on my wife. But, if I went back in time, smoked cigars back then, found a girl at a bar that was interested in trying a cigar, gave her one of these to try, what could have happened?

On second though, my wife lets me smoke cigars in my basement, man. Glad I do not have a time machine.

Awesome reviews man. I actually just bought some Kuba Kubas recently just to give them a whirl since I've never tried infused cigars. And don't worry, I had to drop Yasmany Tomas yesterday to make room for guys that will actually play this week.

Yeah, the kuba was a good smoke. Just take out everything you are normally thinking of in a cigar and you'll probably enjoy. Even from non acid guys, it has a good reputation. I'd love to actually try the maduro version.

I'm still fairly new to cigar smoking (just over a year) so I don't think smoking Acids will be as bad as an experience as somebody who's been smoking awhile. And if I don't like the Kuba Kuba's they will be perfect for my girlfriend to smoke with me

Still never been there, and did I see that they have a DE event going on this weekend?
Yeah, looks like every Saturday. Unfortunately I work a lot of Saturdays and am not much of a poker player:sour:.

I'll let you know next time we go.

Does the tin have an Extraordinary Larry? Looking forward to that one. Was once my favorite cigar, but b&m got $15 from me every time I smoked one. I've thought about trying one now, but considering the cost, it's not worth it

Yep, it's in there. I think it's a 6x60, so that should be interesting.

@8ball your tasters recovered enough to keep going?
Ha ha ha, yeah, another is in the works soon. Too many brothers have been hitting me with great smokes. Im off tomorrow, so I'm going to try and fit one in the afternoon. After that I have to work four straight 10 hour shifts. It's hard to start a work week with an acid, I usually like to fit one in when I have a three day break from work:D

Review number 5, the 1400 cc

Well, I know a little bit about motorcycles. In my teenage and early 20's, I dreamed of a sport bike. In my late 20's to present, I've craved for a cruiser. Either way, motorcycles are bad ass, and I will own one, one day. What I do know is that 1400 cc's is pure power, and a beast of a bike. So with that in mind, let's spark this baby up.

Presentation, is real nice with this guy. A glass tube, some loose leaf at the bottom to fill the tube, and a plastic cap, which slightly takes away from the coolness ( I dig cork caps).

Initial thoughts of the cap, yep, it's another acid. However, besides the sweetness, this one adds a hint of garden herbs which is actually pretty cool. I also like the fact that after pulling it out, it has a closed tail.

You would think that a cigar with the name 1400 cc would be a powerhouse, but this is the complete opposite. It's super mild. Especially compared to the kuba kuba that I last smoked. I can tell that decent (Connecticut?) tobaccos are present, because it is super smooth on the retrohale, but I'm just not getting that much out of this. I really don't do mild cigars, and a mild cigar that is infused is usually a fail in my opinion. The first third is ok though.

@herfdog is not allowed to reply to this picture.

The second half starts to turn to "meh". The retrohale starts to flatten out and this smoke turns to a time breaker. It's not that it's bad, just not something that's in my flavor profile.

Acid score 5/10

Is it a glare, an ash, or a booger? Alas, it was gone by the time I visited a mirror.
Sorry for the font size issues, my iPad is not agreeing with me. This is not a bad cigar by any means, just too mild in my opinion and lacking body. I'm not totally anti mild, I actually quite enjoy the man o war virtue, because it's a full bodied milder stick. This one just needed more omph. I'd probably name this the 600 cc, and use an oscuro rapper and name that cigar the 1400 cc. Now that, would be interesting.

For you enjoyment, and my pain:

I threw the loose leaf in a bowl and smoked it, well I took 3 or 4 good puffs. Burns like a cigarette and tastes like one, but maybe a little better. Drew estate is known for using this stuff as decoration, and that's about all its good for.
Acid score for loose decoration tobacco 1/10.
