Hamster was a joke. I apologize if it offended anyone. It was a joke, but now at the forum, remembering it, ban my wife. I would be very obliged if you would help resolve the situation.
I wasn't offended. I laughed a blood load. But what has the wife to do again?

Please write it in English - I do not quite understand, but this is important!

I would try to spray the beads with water when they turn white. If you put in too much water the beads will not keep the humidity correctly and it will spike. Try just a little water if you need to add any at all.

If your beads are turning white often, then there is a problem with the humidor. The beads are conditioned silica and really only do one thing, so the problem will not be with the beads.

The best way to do it is let the beads do what they are supposed to do: regulate humidity through exchange. Having all the beads clear will not help, all the beads white does nothing...best is half clear & half white. That's why I suggested misting the beads with a spray.

My wife was accused of my joke about humster - but because she simply has a nickname HumidityHamster - and has not violated any rules. But the ban and did not respond to any questions ((
Only because of that I once joked at the forum and by the fact that she now has a nickname.
I got the mental picture of someone running back & forth checking the humidity like a hamster in a wheel.

spraying the beads makes it harder for them to crack, against dropping water onto them; even if ye put drop by drop with a syringe. They turn transparent as they absorb water. White: dry. Transparent: moist. Ye want 60%-70% of the beads transparent and the rest white. More white = add water. More transparents = let them air out.

The beads are like a sponge. Dry they shrink and wet they grow. If you put too much water, they will not absorb extra moisture out of the air. Also when too wet, ALL the beads will release moisture instead of keeping it at a normal humidity.

5 pounds of beads for a 25 coutn humidor? am i understanding correctly?

If so, that's a lot of beads. for a 25 count humidor, you only need quarter pound at most. maybe just a shot glass full.

Now humidor holds steady 65% humidity))
Maybe 5 ounces - is too much moisture and therefore of the required 70% down??

I understand ... Just accustomed to 70)))
And English through an googleinterpreter - really so bad?
Yeah the english is a little broken, but understandable. I just want you to know that 65% is just fine. If your beads, cigars and humi want to sit at 65% then let them. A lot of the guys here store between 62% and 65% and some lower.
