Seems a Jon Caputo has began purchasing several Cigar Forum boards. What is the reasoning behind all of this?

Anyone know anything about this?

So far, it seems that clubstogie.com, cigarlive.com, cigar-review.com and cigarsmokers.com have been purchased:

http://www.cigarlive.com/forum/showthread.php?t=27720

http://cigar-review.com/index2.php?option=com_forum&Itemid=0&page=viewtopic&t=6171

He's tried to buy cigarpass.com:

(I try to avoid linking to or discussing other boards here, but I think this merits an exception.) Personally, I think this looks like a bad thing. Why does one person need to take over multiple cigar communities? Different boards have different environments and communites, and I'm personally glad that BOTL.org is not exactly like the other forums. That's not a slam on other forums: while BOTL.org is my "home" forum, some of the other forums are great places as well. I'm just very skeptical as to why someone would want to acquire all of these boards simultaneously.

Didja see how much he threw at CP? Holy cow!

If I owned a successful cigar forum with lotsa members and traffic, and someone offered me a sock full of money for it.....I'd laugh all the way to the bank.

(Just don't let it happen around here!)

Hold yer ground, men, for he shan't have us (I hope). "Give him nothing, but take from him everything!"

EDIT: A'right, I just read the Club Stogie, Cigar Live, Cigar Review, Cigar Smokers and Cigar Pass threads (have yet to read the others) and must say that I completely agree with what I read in CP and CS: if he's such an avid smoker, why was he never a member of those communities? Why would he invest such a blood load of money unless there was an economical motive? Could he already have approached BOTL (I wouldn't doubt it)? Why buy so different communities? I don't like the sound of this all whatsoever. I'm glad for the blokes down at Cigar Pass for having such integrity and resisting temptation. We shall see what will become.

They are all selling, what is going on? What is his motive? His goals? Will they be shut down to form one site and all the urls repoint?
He has been very quiet about his intentions.

I am certainly not a marketing or finance guy but from all those articles and the info I gathered I think it is pretty clear what his intentions are. The fact that he is using search engine optimization on dating sites as a marketing tool indicates to me that he is going to increase his pool of potential hits on a search engine by increasing his portion of the market. The more cigar forums he owns, the better the chance is that you end up at one of his sites when you search. A Higher percentage of hits makes his sites that much more attractive to advertisers. That is what I surmise is happening.

The problem is what happens when he hits that magical number and sells?
