I'll use a piece of 2x to spread out the force.. If I can't fit it, then a couple of hardwood 1x boards will work.

Thanks for posting these leads Marc L !

Just received this off eBay. Board is pretty cupped and dirty but should be salvageable with some elbow grease. Star cutter has all edges intact and will clean up nicely. I think this was a good deal just for the cutter.

Perhaps I should mention, this is now mine. I haven't looked at it much but it's really cool. The leather appears to be in good condition. The only thing that concerns me are the bearings located below.
They seem fine but I'll know more when I get some time to bring 'er back to life.
