Nic puros are tops for me, and by a mile! I like to sprinkle in a few CC's or high end Fuente's once in a while, but 9 out of 10 cigars for me are Nic's.
I'm definately in agreement with Patrick on this one!

About half of my cigars are Nics, 25% Dominicans, and the rest are Cubans and everything else. Good poll idea! ..

It will be interesting to see what happens if the Cuban trade embargo lifts. Cuban-Nicaraguan blends? Tatuaje using a true Pinar del Rio Habano wrapper?
You should have put an 18+ warning on your post, that is just pure cigar porn.

When I first started out it seemed that a lot of what I bought was Honduran, but now it seems that everything I buy is Nicaraguan maybe some Dominican.

Although I am a big fan of Habanos. I believe the cigar that has set the new bar is the Padron 1926 40th, so my choice was Nicaragua.

I am also a big fan of the Tatuaje T110, but they are hard to come by these days.

Both the Padron 1926 40th and the Tat T110 are Nicaraguan Puros
I agree with your sentiment.

however, a long existing story (which has been confirmed to me over and over) is that Padron uses San Andreas wrapper. It isn't a true puro in that regard. Not that it matters.

hmm are you sure you're not thinking about Nica Libres???

as to the poll... 95% of stuff in my humi is nica. Not sure how this would change if the embargo was lifted. :dunno:

oh, I'm sure.

the rumours have been there for years, disputed for obvious reasons. However, it has been confirmed to me by very reputable sources.

like I said, it makes no difference to me, as I love Padrons. But it simply means it doesn't conform to the conventional accepted definition of "puro".

hmm... that does make a difference to me. I highly value a company's integrity when it comes to making my purchasing decisions. At this point I will have to take the Padron's word unless there is concrete evidence to the contrary. Words out of a mysterious "reputable source" and chatter in numerous online forums is not concrete evidence IMO.

I see no reason why they would need to use mexican wrappers and lie about it. They are on record as saying the used mexican binders in the past, but did not like the results. But the nica wrappers IMO taste great.

Im sure that the mexican wrapper, while being only a small portion of the cigar, even if it tasted better than the nica (which is highly unlikely) wouldn't yield such a profitable advantage as to risk defaming the company name, which is what is going on here. Why would a company with such a high reputation stake everything on a lie to gain pennies in profit??? Look at the money and the answer is clear.

Favorite? To be honest....depends on my mood and where Im at the time smoking. Certain types of cigars and there flavors seem to mix with different situations or mabe its as simple as Darlene Brown once said to me after I asked why she was marrying her 3rd husband (which all of them) were friends of mine: Michael.... it just that I need a new beat.

Le Buzz, I don't have the time to address all your points. I'll just say this in conclusion..

the cigar world is very very small, and word travels fast (im NOT talking about forums).

I love Padrons stuff, and have been smoking them for at least 10 years.

San Andreas wrapper is excellent, but suffers from the poor reputation that Mexican tobacco has gotten over the years. Many companies use San Andreas but are loathe to admit it for that reason.

the Padron 40th is one of the best cigars on the planet, and is a testement to the quality of flavor that can be achieved with non-cuban tobacco.

Good smoking to you!

My favorite is the Ashton VSG, and I smoke quite a few different D.R. cigars, but I would say a have close to a 50/50 split of DR and Nic's in the humi.

I voted Cuba because most of my collection is from there. I do have a growing Nicaraguan stock.

While I'm hardly an aficionado yet, I find the stuff I generally like the most is nicaraguan.

That being said, I have not refined my tastes enough yet to distinguish binder and wrapper flavours (like being able to say "man, this cigar would have been better with a nicaraguan binder and an ecuadorian wrapper").

And as I've said a few times before, I like Cubans, but to me they're generally overrated. It seems like more of a "forbidden fruit" thing for American smokers - they're illegal, so they're the best!

Wouldn't you like to know?
Cuba is by far my favorite. I smoke quite a few Dominicans and Nicaraguans as well but they just aren't on the same level for me. They make great cigars don't get me wrong but my top 25 are all Cuban.
