  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Thought I would show off this little Nubber/Draw Tool I made out of a Darning Needle, and Rubber Stopper.
The needle was bought at Wally World for under $2.00 for a (7) Pack, and I found the stoppers at True Value Hardware for $.20 each.
I basically forced the sharp end into the small end of the stopper far enough to cover the Eye the Needle, then turn the Needle over, and worked it is to the stopper.
My guess is the rubber expanded around the Eye of the Needle, and so far no lost Needles.
Poorman's Nubber/Draw Tool works well as you have about 2.5 inches of Draw Enhancer.

Good idea, you may find that you need two prongs if the cigar spins on you when you try to take a good draw.

Well it is more of a Draw Enhancer then a Nubber, but it works well to open up a path for air flow. I have a friend who use a Corn Eathing Tool for a Nubber.

So is the rest of the shaft uncovered by the rubber and able to get dirty?

Correct the Needle (silver part is naked) it is stored loose in my Herf-A-Dore, it is use by me alone. I am not selling the item, it was an FYI if you want to make one for yourself. I am not a germ-a-phobic, but occasionally after some hard use, I have wiped down the silver part with a alcohol swab.

The Eye of the Needle is deep in the Rubber Plug about 3/8"or 1/2" deep. No the Needle has not become dislodged ever. Might some day, but no problem with many uses.

He's new here, he should of known where this tread was going with Brandon's post!
But that little uncovered prick could do a lot of damage to your wrappers.

I have seen a Draw Tool on E-bay that has what look like a Barb of a Fish Hook on thre business end. That tool I think could do some damage to a Wrapper like you mentioned. (Post edited)

My Darning Needle is about the thickness of a paper clip, must stiffer, so they do not flex. When I use it to open a air vent I go into the center of the Cigar. This is something that just take you being careful, and not being Ina hurry.

My D.Y.I. Gadget work well for me. Hope I answered your questions. If you are a D.Y.I. Make you own and test it out, impove it, make it better.

Tell me more about this naked silver thing that only you use. After you use it hard and swab it, does the eye that’s deep in the plug get injured ever - even after many uses?

Well as your Tig Filler Rod has no Eye, you might try a little Super Duper Supper Glue on the end of the that goes in the Rubber Cork. I found my True Vale has about 6 - 8 sizes of the Rubber Corks.
