Those with stairwells usually use it for misc. storage but what you've done is not only smart but if it's in a basement then the temperature will not ever be a problem. I had this in my last house just like that and my basement stayed at 70 degrees in the summer and winter it stayed around 60-65 degrees. I like the simplicity of the unit and what you used for storage. That is going to give a lot of BOTL the same idea and you might have some quick plans as to what you found was the easy way to do it. Usually after building something you think...Oh, I could have made this easier if I had done this.

My wife doesn't really care for the smell of buring cigars but she loves the smell of a humidor. It does smell very good for it's size.
