So my first shave with it today. I always shower first and soak my neck. It was way less complicated than I thought it would be, I had to keep checking to make sure I was even shaving the hair off. Which was weird, it felt like there was much less resistance. I will never shave with anything else.
Very similar to my first shave experience

What kind of brush and soap are you using?

The blades came with the razor. I will have to order some new ones on Amazon. The razors are Dorco. Any suggestions on blades?
Astra, PolSilver Super Iridium, Feather. Your best bet is to get an assortment pack from West Coast Shaving or Bull Goose Shaving.

Feathers are the sharpest baldes I've used so far

As NCost mentioned Astra Superior Platinums are nice blades and a great value too

I've heard lot's of good remarks about Persona Med's, but haven't tried them yet.

Prep: Hot shower and washed face with Jack Black face buff, then hot towel on top of the pre-shave lotion
Pre: green tea & oat provaso preshave lotion
Brush: basic Badger brush
Shave Cream: NY shaving company Tonsorial Shaving Cream
Razor: dovo 6/8th straight razor (then the Merkur 180 long handle for touch up)
Blade: feather
Post: Geo F Trumper Sandalwood skinfood
Cologne: L'homme

Using the straight razor definitely has a steep learning curve. Still trying to get the muscle memory down holding the blade at the right angle and then using my non dominant hand is very odd. Cant wait to hve it down confidently.

Astra superior platinum are quickly becoming my favorite blades. May not be as sharp as Feathers but they last 3x longer. I can only get a few good shaves out of Feathers.

I have both as well. The Feathers are sharper, but I like the extra coating that the Astra SP's have. I'm less likely to cut myself with the Astra's and for the price they are tough to beat IMO.

Got up a bit earlier today (not by choice, eff'ing Monday) so I had some extra time to myself.

Prep: Hot shower with Aveda's Botanical Kinetic facial cleanser
Pre: Cedarwood and Jasmine pre-shave oil from Casa-Rdomfoto
Soap: Nivea for Men (I hate this stuff but I will use it up and it's almost gone)
Razor: Gillette Fusion ProGlide Power
After Balm: I forget the name of it...

As much as I love the shave from the Gillette, ±$30 for the replacement cartridges is ridiculous. I have a few months left of the cartridges and I'll get a DE safety razor to replace it.
