When I open a pound, if it's not moist enough to sort already, I'll bring the case up first. It might take a few hours. Checking maybe every 10 or 20 minutes re-misting if need be. I'll use a large tub or, on boards in the open air. it will come clean. be sure not to store it to wet though.

I haven't mastered the sorting out yet. Usually, I take out just over what I plan on using for a session, case and clean that alone, leaving the rest resealed in the original packaging.
I may just be lazy regarding the sorting. I'd need bags for each leaf variety and their assorted stacks vice just the original pack...but I guess it would let me plan ahead better.
@BrewinHooligan , you're right about all the flavors. And smoke production is through the roof!

Yeah, I'll just sort in one stack top to bottom. maybe 4 to 6 piles while doing it. then they'll go in a 2.5 gallon ziploc, pressed of air and stored. the next day I'll check to make sure it's not to wet. Every couple days I'll re-visit to keep shit straight. If I plan on not rolling for a while, I'll let stuff dry. usually, I keep things closer to workable.

What kind of piles? Like filler only, possible wrapper, and such? Or like darkest leaves to lightest?

All that as well as body of the leaf. (thickness) .. Alike leaves will perform as such.. Any binder/wrapper you find, you might want to utilize for that. it will need a good working to get it there.. Over a towel on the knee or arm chair to get it to work flat. A bowl of water or misting for your hands.

Is it normal to get this much sand off mata fina?

That's after the first run through flattening them out some had already been cleaned up. This is the second time flattening/smoothing and cleaning the crevices.
I will snap another pic after a couple more leaves...
Edit added more pics:

This sure smells awesome, just wondering about how much sand I bought with my pound of leaf....

No sand in mine. WLT.

Sand is more than inconvenience when you are paying by the pound. I can understand that rain may have splashed dirt onto the mud lugs, but somewhere along the line even mud lugs ought to have been washed, and higher primings ought to be clean.

begs the ? ... what's a black eye specialist?
My triple ligero blend, one whole leaf of each of those, 1/2 leaf of jorge ligero, an Ecuadorian habano seco binder and wrapped with your choice of Mata Fina or CT shade. Loads of flavor and not as strong as I had originally expected, but you will feel it towards the end.

Pretty sure I sent you one, it is the one with the white band and black eyeball. I suggest smoking that one a night you can consume a few frosty barley pops with it.
I'll dig round for it tonight. I'm about ripe to hit one of your brews, too. I think I only have a pair left. It's to where I don't want to drink the one cause then they'll be gone, and I don't want to burn the other cause then they'll be gone. So I've been hitting Coors, Guiness, and the reliable Uppowoc Perfecto.

The sticks were rolled to be smoked, and the brews were brewed to be drunk. Enjoy in good health!
