  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

We had Wild Turkey Night at Bourbon Club last night. Forgot to take a pic of the lineup, but it was WT101, the Jimmy Russell 70th anniversary 8 yr, a WT12 from Japan, and two Single Barrel picks from Bourbon Pursuit. My favorite was the WT12, had a nice oaky note that sometimes I miss in the WT line. A close second was the SiB Pick that was aged at the Camp Nelson campus. I'm usually partial to any CN aged turkey...

Very cool lineup of WT!

The JR 70th didn't fare well against the others in the lineup? I had a bottle last year and was a little underwhelmed.

I've had several bottles of 70th, it's good, but not life-changing. Sweeter profile. To me, it's a step up from 101, no rough edges, but lacking anything outside the sweetness for interesting character. I've always been a fan of oak more than sweet bourbons, so it explains my preference in the tasting.

I think 1 person picked 101 as their favorite, 3 picked 70th, 7 picked the WT12, 2 picked the non-CN SiB, and 4 picked the CN SiB.

Wanted a easier pour last night and realized I really don't have anything under 115 proof open. Grabbed one of my EH Taylor Small Batch that I was holding as trade bait. Forgot just how delicious this is.

Sunday night we hit Maize & Mash and I tried their Pinhook 9 Year single barrel pick. It was good, but not good enough to tempt me into a bottle at $80. They have a new Russell's 10 Year sb pick coming, we'll be back for that.

Last night decided to open something special. Longhorn Steakhouse Knob Creek 14+ year single barrel pick. Possibly the greatest KC barrels ever were picked by Longhorn back in the late 2010s. Go figure. IYKYK.

Finished the night with some of my favorite current open bottle, at 140.2 proof.

Hazmat in a glass. It's scary how easy this stuff drinks.
