  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Today's Bourbon

Herfed with a friend yesterday who brought out the good stuff. After a starting pour of Old Carter American Batch 10, we hit 3 of the BTAC offerings.

I had to hang around a bit late until my buzz wore off. All in all, a wondaful day.

Headed to the land of great water. Unfortunately my cousin passed away which puts me on the road to Hurricane, WV. Of course I'll need to jump the river to stock up a little in KY. Hopefully there's a good shop close by.

Been drinking four roses single barrel. Picked up a different batch with the red label haven’t tried yet

makers heart release
Old forester rye. Liked it better than most rye
Regular makers mark

mixed the old forester and the makers. That was a poor choice

I've seen those Four Roses red label in 4 mashbills, Jake, I'm anxious to see how you like yours.

I enjoyed the MM Heart Release much more than this year's Keeper's Release.

Can’t get my hands on the keepers Been hunting.
Yes I saw all of the 4 roses mash bill in one store. I’ve always liked most 4 roses so restocked in a different blend!

Besides our big box liquor stores, I've seen the Keeper's on some independent stores' shelves, and at MSRP. Like I said, Jake, it didn't measure up to the Heart Release for me.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on the Four Toses red labels once you've tried them.

IMG_7899.jpegIMG_7899.jpegOk so I can review bourbon about as well as I can review a cigar. It’s got good sweetness which I like quite a bit in bourbon. It’s got good has a rye forward type of profile which I also like. Nice dark amber color. Overall I like it rather well. To be fair I need another drink or few to decide if I like it as well as the heart release makers. Overall I’m happy with my purchase but I also don’t view this one as a must try. It’s damn good but I’ve tasted better bourbon. I’ve tasted much worse recently but I don’t need to replace this one when it’s empty ( better not find it on sale though). I gave 55$ for this one and I’m still happy with things here. This bottle likely won’t last long. I’d even pour it for a good friend.
Sometimes the first pour or two out of a bottle can be funny so I’ll revisit soon.

review just for you hog!

It's a good review too, Jake. I agree that sometimes that first pour can be deceiving. I hope it continues to please going forward and appreciate you for pointing out that you likely would not replace the bottle.
