Siince the poll asked for most influential, I went with Pepin - nobody has more impact on more blends and brands. If I had to choose by personal preference, it would be Litto & EPC.

realize it's a general poll, but influential to whom? if you look at it as an industry as a whole, or if you look at it as who you personally are influenced by. i tried to keep it as a general thought and as a "right now" situation. obviously some of the guys, like fuente, have ruled the roost for years with many different lines. but, for the past couple of years, you'd be hard pressed not to say pepin. he's produced for not only his own line, but SO many others as well. may not be your personal favorite, but he is pretty amazing right now.

from those listed I would have to say Mr. Garcia. not just for his work...but also that of his family. and I am going to cheat and include pete in with that because even don says he is like a son. he has a very talented family indeed.

I voted other and posted a link.

Let me explain this.

Influence is built on trust, reputation and consistency. Popularity is built on an X factor; it is, by nature, inherently perilous. Popularity requires no loyalty, no trust, and the audience can easily abandon you to go on to the next fascinating new thing.
Now, look at the poll. That is POPULARITY. Then review what you just said...

That is Popularity, not Influence! I absolutely agree that he is popular, as 48 other people have already pointed out!

Did you click the link in my post to see what I thought was most influential name in cigars?

Did you see who the customers were?

It is the blenders that make great cigars. DPG is the very best.

Just to name a few: Don Pepin Garcia Blue Label, Don Pepin Garcia Serie JJ, Tatuaje, Cabaiguán, 601, San Cristóbal, La Aroma de Cuba (2009 blend only), Original Padilla Maimi

Here is a more complete list:

The Cuban Years - He helped blend cigars such as Cohiba, Partagas, and Montecristo. During the 1990s, he was in charge of Quality Assurance for the Cohiba brand, and was also a consultant to several Cuban cigar makers. Also during the 1990s, he was accounted Cuba's most productive master roller.

You learn something new every day, part of what I love about having people in the industry on the board.

one thing you learn aobut being in this industry is that everyone know everyone, and how everyone started, like perdomo once upon a time was a rep for Luis Sanchez of la tradicion cubana who makes my cigar, Casa Gomez

I voted for DPG as he's got a lot of influence. There are many others with more contact - like tobacco brokers and so forth. However, I think what DPG has done in the past 5 years has brought us to where we are in cigars today.
