From the same era, guys like Tom Morello, Jerry Cantrell, and Dean DeLeo were just killing it. With all due respect to the classic greats, I grew up on early-mid 90's rock and it's easy to overlook the way that so much of the stuff was guitar-driven.

At the other end of the spectrum, Dick Dale! The genre may have run its course 50 years ago, but that raw, primitive "thrash" is immortal.
