Just curious. People say they know about quality control when I'm not sure sure if that's true. I've been smoking a little longer than you and have smoked more than my fair share of ccs and my experience is different (from different humidors and different humidities.) I've had very very few ncs plugged and many ccs plugged. Either way I'm not sure those can be attributed to quality control. I just don't know.

Its my feeling too that CC's plug more often. just an opinion and not a huge sample size. My thought is there may be some truth behind it since you never hear anyone saying NC's plug more often than CC's. again, pure opinion so don't hate.
I have a wineador in the garage and at one point it was turned off and the humidity got to 70-72. I was lazy and I grabbed a few ccs from there anyway. They all smoked so much better. Granted it was only two different sizes, marcas but it was enough to almost take my humidity up for the ccs. (I usually have ccs at around 62 also)

LOL, I have never had a plugged NC, but have had more than enough plugged CCs. Although it seems to be isolated to box, almost gave up on the HURR because of a crap box. On a side note... 90% of the sticks I have had a problem with have been LUB. HURR, CORO, Monte.
Also on QC... I was going to say that the draws are almost always more consistent and looser on LCDH/EMS buys. However my wife brought me a birthday Siglo VI in the cardboard single box from JJ Fox a few years back. It was plugged beyond recognition.
I keep the coolidors at 65 and the desktop at 61/62ish. I personally don't notice a big difference in draw between them. It's likely you have a dud box.

First, it can take months for a cigar to drop moisture and be evenly humidified.
Second,you can get a really bad box, with a higher percentage of plugs. I have done so many times.
This is why I keep a reamer in my travel humi, back porch, man cave, and at work. I have saved a lot of plugged sticks.
Third, the Monte 4 is produced in large numbers due to its popularity, so the pressure to produce can lead to poor quality.
I have enjoyed cigars for over 40 years, and have smoked thousands of them, and I will tell you that Cuban cigars are WAY more likely to have construction issues.
I cannot remember having more than a handful of plugged NCs in the last 20 years.
Lots of competition among makers demands a lot better quality control, and NC makers can sell off marginal sticks as "seconds".....

Up to around 1200 smoked CCs in 4 years. (I keep all the bands) they go in this jar. Every year i count them and tally. Etc etc
Maybe 2 dozen plugs. See the difference Ara is I keep a record, save the bands.
I wish this would just go away on the interwebs it's just not true. On the plug rates. I mean for god sakes we did a log for a year.
Now loose fills etc? I really could care less. If I can smoke it effortlessly I can control other variables. (Slow down my draw or timing of puffs).
Btw this 2011 $1.76 JLP Cazzie is smoking great... Going to nub it.

Half my boxes are from grey market. Doesn't get much shittier in quality control to a few guys around here. And still not many plugs. To each their own.

i am sure that all kinds of people will have a different opinion. the demand for cuban cigars doesn't allow the manufacture to age their cigars. most nc are fully fermented when they release them to be sold. this is not the case with Cuban cigars
I understand that cigars and wine get better with age, but i don't know of a wine who's cork won't come out until you cellar it a few years.
