I thought I had replied to this, but couldn't find the post. I am 62, married to the same women for 39 years, have 3 boys, 37, 35, 33. I have had many jobs but one career. I have been a Mississippi River Boat Captain. I worked on the river and the GICWW, for 36 years. I retired ten years ago at 52. After doing some traveling, lots of fishing, tried my hands at a couple of things, found out I am not a good landlord. (I am TOO easy). 8 years ago I started in Maritime education, I went to work at the school where I received my Captains license. Helping students get their license and other certifications, 2 years ago I moved into curriculum development. Due to the oil crunch, most of the production in the Gulf of Mexico shut down due to the oil price drop, my job was discontinued. I was picked up by a community college to start a new maritime program, I am the maritime department at this time, that means I do recruiting, teaching, curriculum development, creating textbooks, and promotions.
I began smoking cigars 37 years ago when my first son was born. only to quit a few years later because of allergies. A few months ago, a close friend returned from Saudi, having been there for 18 years. We reconnected, sitting on his patio, he introduced me to scotch, rye, and cigars. Although I think I insulted him a little, because I didn't like the CC he gave me and smoked about half of it. But it got me to restart my journey with cigars.
I have been very thankful for the BOTL, Aaron, @acc05R1 took me under his wing, made some recommendations and I am on my way.
My wife is not crazy about the idea of cigars and scotch and whisky, but has been a real trooper, not complaining about it. Mostly because I have been very frugal with all of it. I have not been affected by C.A.S. so she has been okay with it. Besides she is taking care of her mother, in hospice care, so she is focused on that.
I guess you can tell I can write a book. I ride motorcycles, I presently own a Honda ST 1300 ABS. I was a motorcycle rider-coach. I like fishing, I have a 20' bayboat, Redfish, and Speckled Trout are my target fish. I also flyfish and tie fly's. I fish offshore from time to time. I shoot guns and reload. (357 mag, 45 ACP, 30-06). I read voraciously!
There is more but I will stop here!
We need to hit the redfish one day Floyd! Prayers for your mother in law.

Nice. Here in Florida we have a spot called Mosquito Lagoon. Pulled a 45lb Redfish from there off a blue crab. One of my best catches.

I mostly cause mischief of one kind or another. I am an amateur provocateur and professional nonprofit executive specializing in technology and technology funding. When it comes down to it I am kind of a geek. Accept without the "kind of."
It's awesome to meet fellow geeks.

Those are both sweet shooters. My collection runs from low production performance center runs from the 80's and 90's to revolvers almost 100 years old. I shoot them all.

A little gun porn for you, my 27-2 with ivory grips.
And with the 3.5" barrel. Very nice. How did I miss this post?

Hey All,

I have worked as a government attorney for 22 years. I've been married for about that same amount of time and have three kids - 17, 13 and 10. I love pretty much all sports, surfing the web and cooking. I began seriously smoking great cigars - not the Swisher Sweet kind - about about seven years ago. There is ALMOST nothing better than lighting up an Arturo, AJ, or Gurkha after a stressful day. Looking forward to getting to know more people of the same thought.

27 year old firefighter, not married...yet. Avid hunter here in Illinois where the big bucks grow, I also play and coach volleyball, basketball and baseball. Just getting in to the cigar smoking world and looking forward to meeting likeminded folks and enjoying the company of the awesome and knowledgeable people here on the thread.

I am a flexographic pressman. I have been at the same place 26 years now. Married with 3 adult daughters and 1 granddaughter and 1 grandson.
My other hobbies include comic book collecting and vintage Star Wars toy collecting. I'm your typical middle aged geek I guess.

I'm on permanent disability but am still able to earn some spending cash every month. :cigar: So if anyone is ever in need of a freelance writer, I might be your guy. I say might, because aside from some ISO 9000 documentation, I haven't done much in the area of technical writing. But that's not to say I can't pick up new subject matter or make stylistic adjustments (y).

I've got roughly fifty clips to my credit, mostly special section articles in The Buffalo News and other local publications. I also wrote a five-page feature piece for a heritage magazine in this area. I pride myself on writing with style and substance; the two needn't be mutually exclusive. I'm presently working on my own book,
The Chronicles of DAMHIK: Don't Ask Me How I Know! Still in its early stages, it will be a humorous, self-deprecating chronicle of the innumerable dumb things I have done in my life which resulted in physical or emotional pain and embarrassment, trips to the emergency room and so forth.
