Again, this is absolutely stunning, my friend. Well done!!!
Smoke what you like, and make whatever you want, but you should be creating custom humidors my friend.
That is beautiful work!
Thank you both. Humidors are definitely on my list of things to do.

And here’s one final picture...because this thing is done.

Between yesterday and this morning, I put on 4 coats of satin lacquer, lightly sanded between coats with 320g paper. Lastly, I rubbed in a coat of wax with 0000 steel wool and buffed it to a soft shine. This lady was devoted to her dog and I figured she would pet the box on occasion, so I wanted it to be pet-able.

Cabinet update: Since my last report I have glued up and sanded the drawers, lacquered the inside of the carcasses and all sides of the drawers, installed the drawers, and got started on the face frames. Pics below.
@PetersCreek & @el_mustango - Thanks for your feedback on the counter top. I'm still pondering, but I am warming up to the idea of a counter top that doesn't look like a monolithic slab of oak. I think some mismatched grain might add to the charm. We'll see...

Looking nice and solid. I may have missed it upthread but what do you plan for the doors and drawers?
Thanks.
Nothing fancy on the doors. I picked up rail and stile bits for the router. Probably just do some square flat panel doors with european hinges. A simple oak front for the drawers. I'm planning to use pulls on these.

Since we need to replace our well pump, I won't be able to buy the new dust collector I've had my eye on. So instead, I decided to upgrade the existing DC, which is a 1hp Shop Fox W1727:
And here's the vision: replace the filter bag with a more efficient canister filter, add a Super Dust Deputy separator, and build a new base to hold it all.

I started phase 1 today: adapting a canister filter to replace the old filter bag. I made a cap for the open-topped canister, then a 'donut' on which the new filter will rest. A threaded rod will retain the filter and cap. The donut is just temporarily fitted right now. It needs to be caulked and screwed in place.

A very minor update. Instead of caulking the donut in place, I found some thick foam weatherstripping tape that’s essentially airtight when 80% compressed. I laid in a ring of it, clamped the donut down and secured it with screws through the tub. Something I’ve been meaning to do and finally got around to this morning was to wrap a band of thinner, wider weatherstripping around the outside bottom of the tub where the dust bag is secured. Much better seal there now.

I dumped a few handfuls of dust from the bag on the floor and cranked it up for a test. Holy crap this thing sucks more now than it ever has, especially for a 1-hp DC. At 254 ft², the new filter has approximately 10 times the surface area of the old bag, so the main limiting factors now seem to be horsepower and impeller size.

You should post. No project is too big or too small!
Mehh.
So my wife was wanting one of those black pipe shelves. I didn't wanna pay for one so I made her one.

Then she wanted a bigger one, and a black pipe lamp. Again, didn't wanna fork over the money for a 300 lamp, so....

Then she wanted a pallet wall

Then most lately she wanted a closet repurposed with a seat. A neighbor had just replaced their privacy fence, so I took some of the wood and made this.

Nothing wrong with those projects, that I can see. Simple, clean, and from the looks of 'em, bombproof.

Unless they already ate it.

I had the pleasure of meeting @Pennywise827 last Saturday and I was there when he turned EAT into ATE :ROFLMAO:.
I've been subscribed to this thread for quite awhile now and I just love looking at all the stuff you guys make and post! @PetersCreek those pet urns are amazing!
I built a workbench is my basement/garage so I could have a setup at home to smoke cigars - I will post some pictures when I get a chance to find them.

@Pennywise827, those look great, man!!!!!
While I appreciate that, all i have is some clamps, finish nailer, and compound miter saw. I need to finish cleaning out the garage from the move (nearly 2 years ago now. .doh!) To build my workbench and have a proper place to work. I find peace in working with wood and will explore it more in depth.
