Big thank you Marc L., Blisscigarco and Webmost for all the videos and posts in this forum that you guys have written. Am a lot happier with the looks of my smokes now.
I was trying to win the war by fighting to many fronts at once and not succeeding. This week I concentrated on Blisscigarco’s triple cap 2019 edition video and have made a lot of progress.

Nice rolls ! I'm looking at the foots and I'm guessing that you use the "book" method of bunching. Am I correct?
The book method I use is to stack the leaves with the seco on the bottom and the ligero on the top, then fold them in half so the seco is on the outside and the ligero is inside, then roll. At least that's what I'm calling the book method.

No books for me. Some are entubado and others are accordian. Admittedly not great

My latest roll. Question, it was suggested to me that after having finished my smokes (wrapped and capped) to roll them up in a shiny magazine page and let them rest for a few days (which is what I have done with these babies) to get better shine. Seems to work very well, the question is, how or why does this improve the shine on a newly rolled cigar?

I have not heard of doing this but, if it works well, that's good. Its the oils in the leaf. Some (shade/dryer) will not. If you take a leaf that is damp and, from the inside, press your finger up into it the oils come to the surface. Its the stretching. I've heard that a number of times and it works for me.

Because you've made the the wrappers even smoother, increasing their specularity, and imbued the leaf with the same chemicals that make the magazine pages shine.

Paper is either coated by a polymer or a clay to become shiny but I can see where by making the wrapper smoother it would increase reflection. Now as long as there is no actual particle transfer from the magazine pages to the leaf, never though that. In the old days they use to hand out a small wet towels when I would purchase a news paper because the ink would come off on your fingers from turning the pages. This was solved with modern ink.

Thanks for the feedback, by the way I followed Marc L.’s recommendation to rub the underside of the leaves and it does help to bring the oils out of the wrappers.

The first part of what I said is the truth: it's why anything shines: smooth surface. The second part was for laughs, but might have a grain of truth in it, as laughs often do.
