But why at times is it alright for the B&M staff to enter with a lit cigar?

And I've seen them enter the humidor with a lit cigar only to get someone who was smoking inside out.
Not where I frequent, so I cannot tell. Although that 2nd part is indeed idiotic.

I checked "Sure, why not." Cause I don't have a walk-in. If a store allows it - it's their resposibility to ventilate properly so the cigars aren't affected. The few places that aren't - I don't buy too many sticks from them anyhow (usually have wet sticks anyway).

If it were my walk-in, or I was asked not to smoke in the humidor - than I wouldn't, in fact I would appreciate/respect the establishment all the more if that were the case.

In cases like CI superstore - they are huge: tall ceilings & well ventilated & their cigars aren't noticably affected at all.

I watched Pepin do it in Dana Point, CA. The walk in there has to be around 500 sq. ft.

I know I did it at Cigar King...only because other people were doing it.

at my local B&M they have the rule to never smoke inside the humidor and its a somewhat large humidor for a B&M they usually even have two ashtrays right at the door to put you lit cigars on but yeah i would not smoke in a humidor if i could help it

I love the smell in a good humidor. The smell of a well smoked in lounge is ok, but not as nice. I don't want my cigars smelling or tasting like a lounge.

I always tell people to leave their sticks outside when entering a walk-in. Most walk-ins that I've seen are like huge boxes with minimal air filteration so the smoke would linger in there forever atleast the smell would.

I voted yes. We do at the store I work at. No signs posted and the cigars all smell wonderful. The only thing that I think happens is that the cellophane gets hazed because of the humidity mixing with the smoke. Essentially it gets on the uncelloed cigars but it wipes off as if it were dust. I have never noticed any adverse effects of smoking in there.
Let me ask you one question! Has anyone here personally spent $40,000 dollars on purchasing cigars? If you answered yes then you probably do not and don't allow smoking in your walk-in humidor!

We don't allow customers to smoke in the humidor in our shop, but if one of us employees is just running in to get a bag of pipe tobacco or to help a customer for a minute or two then we can bring our cigars in.

That's different though. There's ZERO circulation in a desk top or even a cabinet humidor.
Excellent point. It isn't an issue at my local b&m because there isn't a huge amount of traffic, selection is decent but limited so people don't tend to loiter and the walkin is a decent size.
