I've said this before - but this is just a reminder. I'll be breaking BOTL over time in order to get it into a far better place. Just be patient if you can't reach us! We'll be back
I would try to get the trays to the correct RH outside the tupperdor so that your cigars are not exposed to fluctuations as the tupperdor trys to reach equilibrium. The cigars wrappers are most prone to issues when the RH fluctuates.

The photos seemed to defiantly show beatle damage but the damage was very limited. I'm sure it has been several months since that cigar was rolled. I don't know but I would think that there would be more damage if the beetle(s) were alive for several months. It makes me think that the company...
I don't understand. How can an ice pack keep something cool for extended periods of time. Once it reaches room temperature it shouldn't have any more cool capability. Please enlighten me.

I have been rolling for a few years. It's a winter thing for me. Something to keep me happy when its too cold to smoke. I only do a few per year now, just for fun. I grew my own tobacco and I'm almost out of stock.
Mine were a bit harsh for my taste but I aged some of them for 1 year and...
Don't sweat it. The hygrometer is reading the RH on it's sensor which is affected by the air directly in contact with it. When you open your container the outside dry air rushes in and the sensor responds quickly. You must have a pretty good hygrometer because the cheaper ones don't respond...
Question for Justintime.
Your humidor photo on the previous page (post # 352) is beautiful. My question is that it looks like you stained the drawer fronts. Maybe it is not Spanish Cedar. If you stained it are you not worried about odors?

A friend gave me 4 seasons of Boston Legal for Christmas. I've been watching and enjoying them. For those who haven't seen it, it usually ends each episode with the two main characters sharing a cigar and scotch on a balcony. It is a great cigar moment. Anyway, I noticed in the first couple...
If you want to use the existing slots for the shelf supports then I was thinking of shelves that slide out level but are lifted up at the back by an inch or two. The shelves would be sort of like a triangle shape. The hidden space at the back below the shelf could hold small tupperware bowls...
Wineadors are great for 2 reasons. One is the great seal they have and the second is the glass door. I have seen hundreds of photos of wineadors but I have never seen one with angled shelves so that the contents are on display behind the glass. I've seen cabinets with angled shelves but...
I have read many threads about people's favorites or best inexpensive cigars and the one that keeps showing up is the Illusione Rothchild. I've never tried it and it is not available locally. When I look online it is usually sold out. I agree that the price is good. Since it is difficult to...
I have just returned from Cuba where I enjoyed a number of great cigars including some Monti's and some RyJ's. The only CC that I really don't like is the Guantanamera line. They are one of the cheapest and it shows in the flavor.
Another of one of the less expensive CC's is the Cuaba. They...
I just returned from a wonderful week in Cuba (I'm Canadian). Hopefully it won't be long until our American neighbors can enjoy the beautiful Cuban weather and hospitality. I thought it would be helpful to post some current prices for purchases in Cuba. All cigars are sold through Habanos...
Lots of great info in this thread. The best advice I ever read on the subject was in Cigar Aficionado magazine. They said that the descriptions are not specifically a "taste" but often it is something the cigar brings to mind. It may not taste like earth or leather specifically, but it may...
