• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

On the Van Winkle front here in San Francisco, it's insane. My local liquor store has Van Winkle 23 year in stock at $1235 a bottle. Weller Larue is $800. And I miseed a 6-bottle release of Weller 12-year today by two hours. Six bottles gone in 4 hours. Madness!

    Got scammed by CigarBid.com

So the OP has tried venting his dissatisfaction across the cigar forum universe. Judging by his claim and temper, I'm actually happy that CBID scammed him. I hope they scam him again. (y)

A new low for Lost & Found?

That guy's a coke freak? C'mon, really? :) He reminds me a little of Harvey Keitel's pimp character in Tax Driver

A new low for Lost & Found?

Absolutely, I would put EST in $6.50-$8 range IMHO. And I paid $17 when they first hit the shelves 2 or 3 years ago and people were buying them up. Maybe the owner gouged slightly due to popularity.

A new low for Lost & Found?

I agree. That comparison is a reach on second thought! I guess my point was that quality outweighs price with LC16s. But honestly, California tax does apply to that comparison too. And look, I'm not trying to harm anybody's business or livelihood. I wish Caldwell all the luck in the world. But...

A new low for Lost & Found?

Marketing, branding, marketing, branding. That's why it's a total turn-off for me. Like most industries, people are in the business for different reasons. And I wish Caldwell all the success in the world with his brand. I really did enjoy EST pyramid. It had really unusual flavors and was a nice...

A new low for Lost & Found?

Caldwell is a cheapjack hustler. I've smoked at least one of each of his creations. They're not terrible cigars, but they're not even close to a good $15 cigar. When compared to Crowned Heads, which are $5-$8 cheaper, it's almost laughable. If you're gonna make a $6-$7 cigar, and then try to...

    Got scammed by CigarBid.com

You know, I just read Time magazine's most recent cover story on the horrible dangers of 'trolling' and 'trolls' on the internet. Now I'm not calling anyone anything, or trying to light up a firestorm. But let me say this. As I was reading the Time article and hearing all the on-line horror...

    Today's Bourbon

Now just out of curiosity, @Tennessee Dave , what exactly does 'Double Oaked' mean? Two different ageing barrels?

    Today's Bourbon

Well, I learned that the hard way. Normally I pour out 4 measured ounces and sip for two hours, usually smoking a cigar. But Stagg Jr. had me feeling really buzzed. The flavors were impressive. Definitely one of my new favorites. Spicy and oaky with some vanilla and caramel in there. Nice...

    What CC you smoking?

Never had an Esplendido or Siglo VI, @Tennessee Dave. But for my pallet and price point, Monte 2s do it everytime. I know that sounds terribly conventional! :) I paired it with Old Foresters Bottled In Bond. 2/3 is all cream, cocoa, and twang.

    Today's Bourbon

Depends on what you like tastewise, but it's oaky and sweet with a little spice. Right in my wheelhouse. That 10-year McKenna is great too, especially considering its price-point!

    Today's Bourbon

Thanks to @Tennessee Dave for Weller suggestion! Just love it. Also a big fan of Bottled in Bond' bourbons as well. Old Forester is tasty!
