• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

    Walther Pk380

Since we seem to be thread-drifting slightly, I'll go with the flow . Regarding calibers, I spend a lot of time with a medical examiner who has autopsied thousands of shooting victims. She says that she has seen plenty of people killed with .22's. It's really about shot placement...

Best place to live for cigar smokers

I'd say New Orleans. Used to be, you could smoke anywhere. Then a couple of years ago, the a-holes in the state government put through a state-wide ban on smoking in restaurants. However, you can still smoke in bars, casinos and pretty much anywhere else, and the weather is usually good for...

Rocky Patel The Edge Maduro vs. Olde World Reserve Maduro

It may not be your palate that has changed. RP has a reputation of bringing out a great new blend, getting it to sell well, and then cheapening the blend. Maybe that's real or maybe it's Memorex, but it sure has been my experience with RP's. When the Edge first came out, that original release...

    Walther Pk380

With small, light semiautos, you really need to make sure you aren't limp wristing; they are very unforgiving. If you decide to keep it and want to reduce the wear and tear on your hand, try a slip-on grip, like a Hogue Handall (or Handall, Jr., I'm not sure which will fit better) or Pachmayr...

So, What Are You Packing Today?

I assume that many/most of us who follow this forum have CCW permits, so I'm curious as to what each of us is packing today. My daily carry varies with my clothing, based on concealability, and I generally carry the largest caliber possible, consistent with being concealed. Since it is now...

Maduro Fuente Chateau or 8-5-8, or Cuban Corona if she wants something a little smaller.

    Travel Case Seasoning?

Re: Bovedas etc. in travel humidors, unless you are going someplace VERY dry or on a trip of more than a couple of weeks, you shouldn't need any humidification device. If the travel case is halfway decent, it seals tightly enough that the humidity should be locked in for the duration of the...

    Wheelguns anyone?

I carry pistols, but I like wheelguns. Mine is a mid-1980's Colt Agent, a slightly lower priced version of the Cobra with a parkerized finish. I have Pachmayr grips on it. My wife has a couple of S&W Detective Specials that were her late father's, one with Pachmayr's and one with the original...

    Palio Lighter

According to the Cigarmony website, it's a 2-year warranty, not lifetime. Surprising and disappointing, at least to me..

    Glock 19 vs Beretta 92FS

Another vote for Glocks. Nothing wrong with the Beretta, but Glocks take a licking and keep on ticking. Drop it in the mud, drive over it with a car, soak it in water (the Philadelphia PD did all of those before choosing Glocks) and it will still keep on shooting. JMO, YMMV.

    Getting my concealed carry

Now that you have apparently decided, let me throw out a couple of comments to confuse you. I have two EDC's, and I choose which one based on my clothes and which one fits and conceals better. In 9mm, I carry a Kahr CM9 in a paddle holster. When I wear clothes that don't conceal the CM9...

NY Safe Bill, more like a middle finger at the 2nd Amendment

This is probably the first time that I'm glad that I moved from NYC to Philadelphia. At least here you can get a CCW permit without being royalty or politically connected. :gangfire:

    NRA Life Membersip for $300

Amen! Also, if you aren't aware of it, membership in the NRA makes you eligible to participate in their optional liability insurance. If you ever expect to use your weapon in self-defense, you should also be prepared to be sued, and their insurance can help make that less financially damaging.

    Zippo and Inserts

VERY cool lighter! I've had many inserts over the years, both Zplus torches and Thunderbird (made by Vector, I think) soft flames. All have worked fine for a year or two and then crapped out. Since they are so inexpensive, I don't mind replacing them periodically.

Feinstein's New Gun-Ban Bill Likely to be Introduced January 22

OK, so how many of us have contacted the White House and our federal legislators asking them to support the Second Amendment instead of blaming guns as the easy way out? If you haven't, you should take the few minutes required. Otherwise, as our rights get eroded, we have nobody to blame but...

Feinstein's New Gun-Ban Bill Likely to be Introduced January 22

I always figured that if I were ever insane enough to run for public office, my platform would be that my success should be measured by how many pieces of legislation I attempted to repeal, not how many I tried to get enacted.

    Any XD-S Owners on Board?

I've been doing more research until I can get to the range and try an XDS. Interesting results. Specifically, I was looking to compare the XDS with the Kahr PM45 (which will be joined by a lower-priced version, the CM45, later this year). There were quite a few threads, including threads on...

    Any XD-S Owners on Board?

Me too. My daily carry depends on the weather. If I am wearing heavy clothes, I carry a Kahr CM9 in a paddle holster on my hip. If I'm wearing lighter clothes or I don't feel like carrying the Kahr, I carry an LCP or a Kel-Tec P3AT in a Recluse pocket holster.

    Any XD-S Owners on Board?

Yup, that's the plan. Just trying to do some preliminary research before I can get there.
