• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

    Any XD-S Owners on Board?

I'm thinking of getting a .45 Springfield Armory XD-S and wondered if anybody here owns/owned one and, if so, what you thought of the gun. TIA.

    colt 357 peacekeeper

Congrats on the new gun. If you have detailed questions that we can't answer here, you might want to check out the Colt owners' forum at http://www.coltforum.com/forums/forum.php

    .40 Recommendations?

Thanks. I use factory ammo, and cost is not a big factor, unless it is at the point of being ridiculous.

    .40 Recommendations?

I'm bumping this thread 'cause a number of people said they were about to buy some new guns of the type that I am thinking of getting, and I wanted to see if anyone had any additional thoughts and comments. Also, I hate to open the .40 v. .45 debate, but since I already have a 9mm, do most...

    worst cigar of 2012

Another vote for the MUWAT. Also Nestor Miranda Dominicano (despite being blended by Don Pepin!).

    Ruger 1911

Lots of good advice, and I agree with everything that's been said. I'm another vote for staying away from .45 and 1911's for your first handgun. Like others, I would recommend a full-size Glock to start with. No matter what, go to a range where they can give you some instruction and let you...

    Beretta PX4 Storm

Nice gun. I looked real hard at it, but my primary need was for concealed carry, and it is bigger and heavier than a lot of the competition, so I went with a Kahr CM9 and have never looked back.

    New handgun

No experience with that gun, but a general question for you. Since the gun isn't for CC, size and weight aren't major considerations. In fact, especially in a .40, extra weight is a plus in terms of comfort and fatigue. Because of that, I wonder if you really need/want a gun that is part...

    Giving Up on Cutters

To me, biting the cap on a cigar is like cleaning an antique table by banging it on the floor. JMO, YMMV.

    Traveling with lighters/cigars

I fly a lot and have never had any problems. I carry on a traveldor packed with cigars, a Xikar multi-tool, a good soft flame lighter and a Djeep. I pack a Zippo with a Z-plus torch insert in a TSA-approved case made by OtterBox and a SAK with cigar scissors in my checked lighter. The most...

    Disappointing/Overrated Cigars

Me too. I just don't get it. I love Fuentes and especially Anejos, but I have just never really liked any of the various Opus X's that friends have given me.

    My newest Addition

Very nice Mi Amor... and the gun's nice, too. :stretchgr

    List/Show off your first gun.

A .25 Browning pocket pistol. Sadly, I can't post a photo of it because it was stolen from my apartment about 10 years later. :cursing:

    Favorite "Full Strength" Cigar

Holt's HCS, blended by DPG. Always leaves me so buzzed and nauseated that I ask myself why I keep doing this to myself. Then it passes and I light up another...

    A. Fuente Anejo

Shark, definitely. However, I'm sure you guys know that most of the tobacco used for Anejos and Opus X's was destroyed in last year's fire, so they are going to be in pretty short supply for a pretty long time. :hanghead:

2 trips, 2 Xikars give me trouble

Hi. My name is Vic, and I'm a lighterholic. I can't help it. I just keep adding to the collection, and cheapies make it easy to feed my habit. So far, the most expensive lighter I have been able to bring myself to pay for is a duPont X-tend that I got on sale for $100. Although pricey, I...

Russia to get new service pistol

Or perhaps loyalty to whoever is giving the most kickbacks... :halfgrinw Sorry, I'm just cynical.

    Weighing options

No offense taken, Alex. The women I know all carry in a purse specifically designed to hold a concealed handgun. There are lots of different brands and styles, along with widely varying prices and quality. The ones that I have seen have a separate compartment to hold the gun that is...

2 trips, 2 Xikars give me trouble

I have a lot of lighters, and the X-tend is the most reliable lighter I have ever owned. Plus it has a neat safety feature that won't let it light upside down. While that may sound silly, some lighters look pretty similar right side up and upside down, and my wife once burned her hand lighting...
