• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

    Today's Smoke (2004-2022 Archive)

It's been a while since I've had a smoke so heavy on leather notes. Construction left a bit to be desired but these are good. Medium smokers that pass on pepper would love these.

    Not Good...FDA ruling

The more I look at all this it seems like this is all aimed at the vaping industry and the big boys in the cigar game trying to control the market. Big tobacco flexing muscle on the smaller players.

    Not Good...FDA ruling

So are they going to be limiting the vitolas as well now? I know there was mention of size/weight regulations which I think would have axed some of the classics.

    Not Good...FDA ruling

Really comes down to the state your talking about. 64oz growlers were illegal until like last year in FL because of BMC pull in the state. The same BS has also created the food truck/brewery scene. It takes nonstop lobbying and fighting down here granted some states are more supportive. I don't...

    Homebrewers - Whats Fermenting?

Fwiw consider putting all the gas in posts on one side and beer out on the other. This way you'll never have to look at the post when moving lines around as long as you put the keg in right. I think with the right type of post it doesn't matter though. All I know is one time I hooked my gas up...

    Homebrewers - Whats Fermenting?

The only stuff Ive used is sort of foggy clear and comes in a little black container. Stuff lasts forever. If its food grade I imagine your good to go but you can always run the brand name through a HBT search and see if home brewers have some experiences with it.

    Homebrewers - Whats Fermenting?

Make sure to order some keg lube if you haven't already. It's an absolute must for kegging and should be applied to all gaskets and O-ring to keep things sealed up right.

    Blending Thread

I haven't tried any of the Dominican fillers just the binder. I've never been drawn to Sumatra in particular other than it being the binder on the CroMag but the description caught my eye. Although I always heard it was fairly neutral. The coffee bean character of the Colombian sounded...

Columbian + sumatra.......good or bad? I'd try it myself but I have neither so I'm hoping others may have some input.

    Homebrewers - Whats Fermenting?

I would go with a 10# tank but thats just me, also agree on the perlicks. You can carb and serve about 4-5 kegs off a 5# tank. Not too bad but a 10# isn't much bigger and lasts twice as long plus you get a better deal on gas. Heres a great link for beverage lines and getting all that sorted...

Sounds like a Grätzer. What percentage of smoked malt did you use?

Nice like a Grätzer bier how is it? I've been looking up obscure styles lately and that one sounded interesting.

Do you have any clue where this note comes from because I think I know exactly what your talking about. Smoked peppered jerky really nails it. That was the core of the profile in the Tatuaje Jekyll and I absolutely loved it. I don't know if its a particular kind of leaf, a certain combination of...

    2016 TAA Releases

Any source for this being regular production? FWIW I smoked one and its more of a Liga IMO than a HE but it was pretty tasty. Not surprising given the hallmark mata fina binder and broadleaf wrapper combo. I think the Norteno profile is a better example of a HE maduro even if the box press is...

    Child Behavior Issues

Im going to echo the sentiment about food/energy and add proper hydration. Those 3 things should always be at the top of the list for everyone IMO. Im a grown man and Im still irritable as hell if one of the 3 is off its just your bodies way of speaking to you, probably elevated cortisol levels...

Not sure if you've stumbled across this yet but if you haven't.... "Blend Profile The Indian Motorcycle Habano utilizes a Habano wrapper from Ecuador. This differs from the Debonaire Habano line which uses a Nicaraguan Habano wrapper. Wrapper: Habano Ecuador Binder: Dominican San Vincente...
