• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Hmmm I still have some of the LO Ecuadorian Habano wrapper I'm going to have to dig those fillers back out and give it a try. It wasn't bad in broadleaf just not a home run but maybe this Habano will do it for me.

How big are the leaves? I still have some of the WLT mata fina I bought forever ago when I first got started. Leaves are real small and I'd say no thicker than most viso but burns more like ligero if that makes any sense. I haven't found a blend with it that I love but it wasn't too bad with...

    Adventures in home rolling

@webmost I certainly can't fault you I go through extra steps to make my homebrew look as aesthetic as commercial brews. For whatever reason though I take a more relaxed approach with home rolling. But I know the feeling...there's nothing like admiring your own craftsmanship especially when you...

    Adventures in home rolling

Honestly I haven't capped a stick in probably like a year lol. I see absolutely zero reason to go through the effort anymore other than for the sake of being traditional. I've been flamed for this before but I've yet to have a wrapper unravel in the slightest. This sort of reminds me of the out...

What's funny is that's what butyric acid smells/tastes like. Which also happens to be on the list. That list is as fascinating as it is disgusting. DW works good enough for me lol.

    Homebrewers - Whats Fermenting?

Do you still use 3# honey per gallon when adding fruit in the primary like that?

Kind of sounds like Key West. We're surrounded by water and the majority of the island sits at or below sea level. Weird lol

    Homebrewers - Whats Fermenting?

Sampling and pasteurizing my AG Berliner attempt and I think I may have hit my mark on this one. This time around I gave the lacto starter 48 hours then let the wort sour for ~3 days. Noticeable increase in acidity and while its character isn't as lemony it's still clean and pleasant. Not...

    Homebrewers - Whats Fermenting?

15mins at 135 for me. I stay in the higher end of the rest range since the lower end can screw with the proteins that help retention and all that jazz. Admittedly I've never seen any negative impact or heard anything first hand but I figure it doesn't hurt to play it safe. More of a "ain't broke...

^ what RH are you storing at? Sounds like you may be running a bit on the high side if rainy weather causes that much of a problem so quickly. The tunneling in particular I've only ever had in sticks stored too high or bad rolls. Since I started storing at 62-65 tunneling has been an issue of...

    Homebrewers - Whats Fermenting?

Look at all that egg drop soup lol. You ever run protein rests? Judging from all that break in the kettle I'm guessing you may have. The difference it makes in clarity is like day and night it's pretty wild.

    The weekend half-wheel

FWIW this guy runs group buys on blank cigar bands every now and then. http://www.bobramstad.com/BBB/ The bands are great and are self adhesive. I think he only does it if theres an order for a 50k run of them though... maybe the rollers have some interest in splitting a bulk stock of bands?

Have the mature fruit stayed the same size or gotten bigger? My tree seems pretty happy and healthy I just don't want to hurt the fruit size of future harvests. I'm not too worried about the overall yield I know that'll get better as the tree gets bigger. Some pics...

I've got a question I've been trying to figure out with no luck maybe someone here can help.... My lemon has dropped at least 60% of its leaves in the past couple weeks. No problem there that's about normal around spring. However I've always heard about the 40 leaves per fruit ratio. Now with...

    Homebrewers - Whats Fermenting?

Im sampling the passionfruit berliner right now and it blows the other batch out of the water. Perfect amount of passionfruit, its juicy yet sour and crisp. Kicked the acidity up to where I wanted things too. This will probably be on tap the rest of the summer lol. In other news I tried my hand...

    Homebrewers - Whats Fermenting?

So my 2nd berliner came out just as tart as the first one, which isn't bad, just want a little more pucker. So I decided to have fun with the batches and move forward on some things I want to try. I added 1# frozen cubed pineapple and the dried peels of 2 blood oranges to the keg of berliner#1...

I know of the practice. I give Gdaddy a lot of credit for the research he's done in that area of things. Just saying Torres can obviously roll, but he comes off as a hustler lol. Edit - I think we've all seen that infamous clip in that RP video where they definitely aren't putting water on...
