• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

    New Cigar Trays

LOL, these are BONE-BONE-DRY!!!! I probably could've snapped them in two ROTT. The trays felt like really nice kindling. Just a word to the wise. Great quality, but they have been sitting in storage. I actually found them on Alibaba.com!!! LOL. You can buy 1000 of them for 10 cents each.

    New Cigar Trays

I thought about it and am still considering that. I just fear that at 51% they'll just suck all the humidity out of the Tupperdor. But I know that after a month they'll probably stabilize where the RH is now at 68%. Thanks, guys, for the advice.

    New Cigar Trays

So I have an existing 46-qt tupperdor which contains roughly 250 cigars. The humidity is just where I want it, 68%. It's been rock-solid for months. I just recently purchased Spanish cedar trays from Cheaphumidors.com. I put them in an air-tight tupperware container with my trusty hygrometer and...

Nope, not in the slightest. He knows everything from seed to cigar.

    Interesting Take On Cuban Cigars

Now there's a story. Man, if you could break that story, Don Pepin himself would hand you the Pulitzer!!! LOL!!! Maybe skip all that, and go on Dave's radio show to say you saw it with your own two eyes. :)

    Noobie Who Knows NOTHING!

Hey noob, all the advice above is very sound. I suggest starting with a tupperdor. You will learn about humidity, long-term storage, and the way cigars interact with humidification devices. Not only that, but you'll do it cheaply. You need a couple things to start: 1) A suitable sized piece of...

    Interesting Take On Cuban Cigars

And now you have this man going to Cuba for 6-7 days and smoking 10 cigars a day, returning to New Hampshire, and then broadcasting to his customers that Cuban cigar factories are disgusting and unsanitary. That is his only impression of these storied and legendary buildings! That alone proves...

    Interesting Take On Cuban Cigars

Hmmm? I would say maybe somewhere between 5%-10% range. New Hampshire might seem like the sticks to some, but it's really now become the suburbs of the Boston metropolitan area. So I'm sure Garafolo has a wide client base. Now that the embargo has made big news and relations between U.S. and...

    Interesting Take On Cuban Cigars

ABSOLUTELY NOT lumping you in with what Akhil and Dave have said at all. In fact, I find your opinion is quite valid. And you're right. Akhil makes a fine cigar. I like Regius a lot. And yes, Akhil is a very well educated man--or seems to be at least. My only gripe with Akhil and Dave has to do...

    Interesting Take On Cuban Cigars

I guess that's where me and Akhil/Dave disagree. Akhil/Dave's standards are based on English and American standards. Yes, true, My Father and Drew Estate have brand-new, clean facilities with all the modern amenities and trappings. But I wonder what those factories will look like 120 years from...

    Interesting Take On Cuban Cigars

Here's the follow-up to Dave's article on his weekly radio show. He is interviewing Akhil from Regius Cigars. The discussion takes place from about 43:08 to 53:15. Akhil and Dave spend about 2 or 3 minutes bashing Cuban quality and flavor, claiming they're 'unprofessional.' And then Akhil...

    Interesting Take On Cuban Cigars

You're right. I was a little extreme there. My apologies. I traveled through Europe in my twenties, ten years ago, at the beginning of our unpopularity. I found most Europeans very cordial to me and very curious about our country. Pardon the generalization. I just feel that when Americans like...

    Interesting Take On Cuban Cigars

Dave just seems like an industry stooge. Not only is his article unreadable, but the whole description of his trip is flat, insipid, and dumb. Here's a guy who has been in the cigar industry for 30 years--so he claims. Now he takes a life-long dream trip to Cuba. His first thought about this...

    absinthe

I drank 7 ounces over about a 4-hour time-frame once. I was really fucked up. Let's just say the colors in my apartment got really bright! :woot: I find it works as a great substitute for bitters in Manhattans too.
