Be a good introduction to saisons, not great by any means.

Very good!

Starts out tart then develops into a vanilla oaky finish.

Awesome body! Bourbon and vanilla just shines through.

2 - pizza port anniversary double ipa
3 - local red - tasted more like a brown
4 - The Bruery Marron Acidife <-- wow

Had some great tasters at the Ballast Point Brew Hut.
Had a 'Super IPA' on draft at Pizza Port in Ocean Beach. It's a collaboration between New Belgium and Alpine as part of the Lips of Faith series.

Then cracked open these at the Hotel.

Picked them up last night at Bottlecraft prior to going to The Public House in La Jolla. Great bison burger and pablano pepper mac and cheese. And absolutely wonderful draft list.

A bottle of Lagunitas A Little Sumpin' Wild Ale.....really good stuff. First had it a few years ago and have been looking forward to its annual release ever since; it's a little different every year imo. Definitely worth a try, even if your not a big I.P.A. fan like me. Shoot, most Lagunitas products are worth a try to me.

Lots of floral & pine hops... I actually liked it and think Rogue in general sucks.

Now this is a Rogue I love! Dry, semi-sweet chocolate through and through.

It was iight... Not the best, should be bolder, IMO.

1 round of troubadour imp stout
last night..

9% abv of dry ass roasted dark chocolate with big barley malt bite finish.
add a very little sweetness
to this unforgiving belg. stout formulation

too bold as a standalone brew - better to wit paired with a palate wrecker type smoke.
will fire one up for round 2 tonite :)

Having a Firestone Walker Barrel Aged Double DBA Imperial Special Bitter Ale with JDog, good beer. But I don't feel it is their best foot forward within the Proprietors Reserve series, would rather have a Fullers ESB if I'm buying bitters. Moving onto a Laguntias Little Sumpin' Wild, apart from the byob servers error of placing ice in the beer to chill it up, it's good!

Firestone Walker Barrel Aged Double DBA Imperial Special Bitter
Now that is a name!
LOL, that's what I thought as well. They have a dba as part of their pale/regular series, but this was a "special release" from their Proprietors Reserve series; just wanted to differentiate them. If your a Firestone/Bitter fan, try it. But if your not, save your money. Not sayin' it's not good, but just there are better bitters out there. LMK, when you plan on making it out to the Leaf brother, I'll bring out something special.
