  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

That's an hour north of the Springs, and we'll probably be an hour west of the Springs at least. So it'll be a 2-hour drive at least, and then an hour back. If we really want to, I've got no problem driving there, but there are some good steak places in the Springs, too.

Yes, but maybe not fishing on Tuesday. I believe that's when we're flying in. But I could be wrong.

Yeah, we could easily do a Denver dinner on Tuesday, because we'll all be flying into Denver that day. We could hit up a Denver or northern CO B&M beforehand, too.
That actually sounds like a pretty good plan!

I've already brought out the fly tackle, cleaned the line, added fresh tippet and organized the flybox. This weekend I'm going to slam some shad that will be running on the Potomac River. Need to practice up!

Excellent, fredneck!

I was up at Spinney Ranch on Monday. The flow's really low because of a busted dam valve, so the fishing was very hard. The fish'd spook when you got within 40 feet. Wound up fishing off my knees a couple times. Tough. Caught 3 fish around 16 inches (didn't even count the snits), an 18, and a 21, and broke off one that must've been 25. Fish never gave me a chance, dragged me through a log-jam the second I stuck him.

Come July there'll be a hell of a lot more water and we should be able to use heavier tippet. Also a lot of fish will migrate back upstream.

I have all the gear you could possibly need, yeah. If you want to bring a spinning rod, that's fine. By "trout rig," do you mean a fly rod/reel? Feel free, if you like, but it's not a necessity.

my trout rig: a 5ft light rod, with a smaller spinning reel. i haven't fly fished before, and don't want to waste too much time learning.

I've got a handful of ultralight rods. Mostly those nice cheap Shakespeare microspin ultralights (4'6") from wal-mart with better reels put on 'em. I also have a couple Pflueger ultralights, also 4'6". Besides that, I've got rods from 5'6" up to I think 7'6". I can do anything from baby perch to 50-lb. catfish. If you need any spinning shit I'll have it for ya! We can go fishing in the corner of the river with our dunce caps on. And your stupid yellow shirt.
