Nope. Your "philosophical discussion" with Derek was all based on your original questioning the impetus of my post in this thread. Try again.
If you're offended, I apologize but indeed, I was having a discussion with him as you said, after you brought up the topic.

I deleted all my comments in case you were offended.

Not offended, brother. I was just confused by the rhetoric. It's all good. No need to delete the comments.

I have an addition, if only to get this thread back on track:

I got some nice clear maple boards a couple years ago and I've been trying to figure out what to do with all of it. This will be the year that I finally put those boards to good use. Maybe a cabinet humidor? :)

@sofc @ahugenerd I understand they are related and why are they related. I think it even merits a thread just like fiscal responsibility. The time and money this hobby can take can intrude upon and take over fam time. I've often heard people give up smoking because of the family for one reason or another related to fam. If he feels like he has shirked some daddy duties or financial duties to buy sticks then he feels he needs to stop buying sticks to be a better dad. I know for a fact there have been occasions i shouldve played catch or kicked the soccer ball instead of being at the cigar bar. So i can see it being a valid goal.
Cheers

A few of my 2017 resolutions are these

Stay away from pit games (unless in Vegas comps are too rewarding)

Make my bed every day, easier said than done for myself

Try to complain less in front of my children

Read more educational books instead of surfing websites (botl excluded. Lol)

It's small steps to becoming a real adult.

The wife and I have started a "clean eating" diet, are doing dry January (no booze or beer), have begun exercising,....and I am taking the month off from cigars. All tough to swallow, but trying to kick the year off with a healthy bang. Can't wait to have a Liga Privada with a glass of bourbon in February!

I made some progress towards one of my goals yesterday. Unfortunately we had unexpected vertical electric, so now I will have to figure out how I am going to move those.

Next steps:
-Get electric situation figured out.
-Get header situation figured out.
-Source countertop material and someone to cut and set it for me.
-Determine path to take with lighting.
