  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

How's your day going?

Well, looking to have a soffit and gutters put on the Hendy Hilton (iykyk). I haven't had this done in 25+ years. Little did I expect such an increase in these stuff. Original work was done @ $3000. I've had 2 quotes so far that have come in at $20K. Whaaaaaat T F? Just beside myself at the cost of this stuff. Might have to sell and get a "tiny house".

I understand the feeling. Starting having some weird issues with the plumbing and got two quotes. The cheapest option was $6,500 for what will take them a day.

The gutter quote was $15,000. The roof quotes are in the neighborhood of $30,000. Luckily it can all wait until the septic is done. When it is all said and done I will have put more than 30% of the purchase price into repairs. It has taught me the value of maintenance.

It also taught me to do a lot more research and make sure I'm not getting a flipped house.

My day is going terrible cuz it's 99, humid AF, and I'm not gonna suffer through it trying to smoke a stogie.
106 feels pretty accurate.

Believe it or not, that is almost exactly what we had here in Minnesota last weekend and into Monday. Temperatures in the upper 90's with a heat index of 110+. Most people think it's an ice-box here year round but it can get pretty hot every now and again too. Tuesday it started raining with wave after wave of storms coming through and we basically got just under 5" of rain in the last 3 days.

Thankfully that is all over now and we are looking at 70's and 80's with sunshine for the next few days.

It definitely can get hot up dere, eh:giggle: I spent many hot summer days fishing up in Ely during Julys and Augusts in my teens.

Of course, I was much more resilient back then.

That's a lot of rain in three days!
It's interesting living in the east cuz mother nature waters your lawn often.
No need to turn on sprinklers. Not the case in Cali.

Well, I got the official notice this morning. I am officially laid off from my current job. The severance should last two months and I have an interview on Monday.
Sorry to hear that man hopefully you can get back to work soon. I’m not sure what field you’re in but I know in mine the job market is rough right now.
