Was down in Philly yesterday and picked this up. Will be using it today before work.
Nice - I never bought that kit but I've used all of those products. Years later I still have that brush.

Here's my pre-game Blackhawks shave just now:

Prep: Hot towel
Pre: rdomfoto jasmine and cedar pre-shave oil
Cream: Proraso Sandlewood Cream
Brush: Summer badger hair
Razor: Edwin Jagger DE89lbl with chrome handle
Blade: Feather
After shave tonic: Clubman Pinaud
After sahve balm: Nivea +Men

I totally nailed the shave tonight, too. No weepers, incredibly smooth, skin feels great...

I. Nailed. It. Best shave I've done yet - didn't realize that it would take a month or two to really dial in the technique. My lather is still a bit inconsistent - I usually make it too stiff.

I was nervous before I used the feathers. I had heard about how sharp they are and because I was new to using a safety razor, I wanted to get my technique down with the Darbys.

But, once I started use the feather blades, I was hooked.

Just got the Catie's Bubbles soap yesterday so this was the first shave with it. Fantastic product. Lathered very easily and kept the skin slick so the razor easily glided over my beard. Fantastic aroma, too.

New razor today to try out.

Also dumb question:
Do people generally flip the razors over and use both sides? I notice they are numbered 1-4.

It's possible, and people do, but with the costs of blades so low, I don't. I usually keep mine a week then grab a new one.

FYI: back in the day, people used to 'sharpen' old blades on ceramic and glass to get more life out of them. I picked up a bunch on ebay for my desk.

That top one looks awesome, Tim.

Rex, I tend to do about one shave per side (so about 4 shaves, total) and then switch it out. Tim is right, blades are cheep.

Stirling makes an aftershave now!!? Time to revisit his website. I have so many of his shave soaps(enough to last a few years) that it's been a while since I've looked at the website.

I've not used any lime-scented products yet. I imagine that, in the heat of the Summer, it's pretty nice.

Very nice in this weather. The lemongrass shave soap is also nice. Another must try for summer shaving is Stirling Soap's Cool shave soap.

Thanks for the heads-up. I just picked up a puck of Catie's Bubbles (amazing soap, BTW) so I need to use that one a bit more before I pick up any more but I'll check them out.
