ok.. did a recon of the location yesterday... there is good news and there is bad news..
we'll start with the good...
the location is beautiful.. really nice view of the smokeys.. the pavilion is huge.. plenty of room to spread out.. probably enough space for 70-80 people to be comfortable.. the toilets are close by and appear to be nice/clean (cant say that for all parks, etc..).... there is a little corner market/bbq shack less than 2 miles down the road if someone needs to run and grab something, etc..etc...
the bad...
no electrical hook ups at all... dont plan on bringing anything that requires power.. if it doesnt run on a battery.. you arent going to run it..... no cell phone service.. I have verizon and my wife has at&t.. neither of us had a signal at all.. and it is DIFFICULT to get to.... do not trust your GPS.. mine got us close.. but took us some crazy back way in that added 25 miles to the trip.. and through 10 miles of rusted out mid 1970's single wide trailer homes, and cow pastures (nothing at all around).... make sure you map out the location, etc.. in addition to having your GPS locked in.. cause.. if you get lost.. its not like youre going to be able to call anyone... our phones wont be working
Its also a little further from Knoxville than I originally believed.. this should be better for the guys coming from SC, NC, and the rest of E TN.. but for those of you coming into Knoxville and spending the night prior in town... count on a full hour of driving to get out there..
that said.. anyone that works for the park should be able to help you get there.. and once you get to the park entrance for the cosby picnic grounds its pretty easy to find (well marked, etc..)..
